Akothee Outshines Raila at The 3rd Edition of Luo Festival Held at Carnivore Grounds

No one could contain me on Saturday, even I, couldn’t contain myself!! From the moment I heard Luo Festival the 3rd edition event was but a stone throw away, I had sang how I will attend to every listening ear. Every last edition the organizers have had it, I always want to go, but cause of one reason or another, I couldn’t. But this time round, I knew I HAD to go.

So fast forward, come Saturday the 9th night, was all spruced up. Dressed in my best white dress ( I need to be seen by a jatelo man), called me a cab and I was off to Carnivore Restaurant called my pal to make sure his on his way too- don’t want last minute surprises of cancellation. Carnivore I reached, the fleet of cars at the entrance was crazy! Took me like 5 minutes to be dropped at a really short distance.

First thing I noticed was the squad of police and level of security. Which was a really good thing, it leaves you at ease knowing your safety is a priority and the organizers weren’t all just about your coin. Got to the grounds, I was amazed, there were hundreds of people! Okay, I know Luo’s are pompous and very strong rooted to their culture, but I honestly didn’t expect this much of people to turn up. I got my drink, met my pal, and then set out to feast my eyes and mingle.

I really had a good time! I was like an antelope in a lion’s grazing land. Once men realized I wasn’t Luo I suddenly became more interesting than I was 30 seconds ago- I am not complaining though…I got to meet fly Luo brothers!

My highlight of the night was “Baba’s” arrival. When everyone was informed by comedian Owago Onyiro of his presence, people went cray cray!!! Like bees to pollen, everyone came to the VIP section to at least get a glimpse of Baba! And he didn’t disappoint, he went on stage, danced and addressed to people. What I took from him, is we should all embrace our cultures; you should never apologies for being Meru, Kamba, Kikuyu or Luo! I agree with him on that.

Babu Owino also came, people again went cray cray! There was a Fashion show under Boyo’s clothing line, amazing performances from Dona Karbari to Vicmass Luo Dollar with Bankotouch, Akothee with her killer performance she marketed her father as a sponsor; that’s when you know father-daughter relationship is tight when you make such suggestions, to hundreds of people. Obinna, Dr Ofweneke, Eric Omondi, Chipukeezy, entertained us highly! I don’t care about your bile; Dj Mfalme was dope on the decks.

Overall, I enjoyed myself. I danced, ate Luo meals mingled and had fun. I would most definitely attend another.
