Alfred Mutua reveals amount of money Kalonzo was paid to be Raila’s running mate

The rift between widened after he sensationally claimed that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was paid to be Raila Odinga’s running mate in the run up to the 2013 general elections.
was paid Sh350 million to join the Cord coalition in a bid to provide a powerful ticket to counter and rival the Jubilee Alliance of Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.
In December 2012, the then Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka at Uhuru Park before a mammoth crowd, announced that he had stepped down in favour of Prime Minister Raila Odinga to be presidential candidate of Cord.
 
Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula later said the decision to endorse Raila was arrived at after lengthy negotiations.
Mutua made the revelations when he appeared before the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee, chaired by Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o to fight off issues of financial malpractices raised in the auditor-general’s report
The governor presented a letter dated February 24, 2015 that was written to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), National Lands Commission (NLC) and Commission on Administration Justice (CAJ) by Ndegwa and Ndegwa Advocates that showed the money was delivered through Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.
 
Mutua also tabled documents which required Kalonzo to account for his source of wealth of approximately Sh200 million used to buy a Eurocopter B3, registration number 5Y DKK.
However Muthama rubbished the claims and warned Mutua against using Kalonzo as a diversionary subject to shift focus from the corruption facing the Machakos County Government.
