2017 has not ended, but it has seen it’s fair share of Ghanaian movies. This list is to highlight 5 movies that got Ghanaians talking, good or bad. It is also to point out the movies that made an impact on the Ghanaian movie industry.
John and John
Even with the whole controversy surrounding whether or not the movie was plagiarised; this movie is the most watched and profitable movie of the year. Kofas Media really outdid himself with this movie. This comedy boasted heavyweights like Pete Edochie and Grace Omaboe. It was rib-cracking and filled the cinemas everytime it was shown.
Adam The Eve
This Ingrid Alabi movie talks about a man who wanted a change in his home because his wife was a working woman and never had time for her home. He prayed and wished for a better home so they went for counselling and just as he wished he got it. The story also talks about specifically what’s we wish for and how we can handle it when it comes. This comedy was very successful and had audiences laughing.
The marketing for this movie was centered on the title of the movie. Fans of the movie were to take their own selfies in order to be featured on the posters. This created a religious following for the movie. The movie had stars like Adjetey Anang, Kafui Danku, Kwabena Kwabena, Roselyn Ngissah, Elikem Kumordzie, Bismark the Joke, Gloria Osei Sarfo, Benedicta Gaffah, Jasmine Baroudi, Kisa Gbeke, Bishop Bernard Nyarko, and Moesha Boduong.
Even though it is yet to premiere in Ghana; the movie has had rave reviews from any international audience that has seen it. The anticipation for the movie has been amped up significantly. The movie focuses on a train of hilarious proceedings between two ex-couple who decided to live together in their matrimonial home after divorce. This introduced a series of awkward situations facilitated by their failed bid to assert themselves on each other.
