I’m Ready To Overcome Music Challenges – Naa Belvy

Fast rising Ghanaian beauty queen turned musician Naa Belvy says  is ready to overcome

all the challenges and become a success in the industry.

Most entertainers have in recent times lamented about how hard it is to break through,

especially if you don’t have a strong management.

But Belvy says she’s ready to defy all odds and work whether rain or shine to overcome

any hurdles she may encounter on her way to the music ladder.

“I know the industry is tough, it is hard to break through because certain things are not done right. I mean for a DJ to play your song, you need to pay him something and sometimes, you pay the money and the songs do not get played.

“These things I know for sure are frustrating as an up and coming act but I am not bothered, I am in to make a mark and if it means me waiting, I will wait.

“New materials are not welcomed in this industry. Can you imagine that for the whole of 2018, no underground act has broken through into the spotlight?

“But elsewhere, every time, there is someone up. I will keep fighting to get through,” she told Showbiz in a chat on Tuesday, December 4.

Naa says she has had to deal with people indicating that she can’t make it since she started

doing music professionally about a year ago.

“People tell me I cannot make it; they do it with words but you can see from their attitude but hey, I will make it and after a year, I will look at those people and tell them I made it,” she said.

In answer to what she intends to do to become the household name that she seeks to be, Naa Belvy said, “apart from the great team I have, I believe in consistency. I know I have good stuff and it is just a matter of time for people to know my worth.”

She will, however, not get to the top using sex, she said. “ I will not sell my body, take nude pictures or anything of that sort, they say sex sells but I want my music to sell me, I want to grow an organic fan base.”

As to what can be done to make things easier for new entrants into the music industry, Naa suggested that;

“DJs should stop playing songs that are already hits. Who makes the hit songs, it has to be played for it to become a hit. And also, the mind-set that the industry is a man’s world should be erased.”

A former student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) Naa Belvy was the winner of Miss Tourism 2014.

She represented Ghana at Miss Tourism international and emerged second runner up.

She loves Afro pop, Afro jazz and has songs like No Parking, Kiss Me and Me and You to her credit.

Naa Belvy takes inspiration from Awurama Badu, Beyoncé and Erykah Badu.
