Radford Graduate Fashion Show Runway Features Autistic Models

The 2018 Radford Fashion Show was over the weekend.

The 2018 Radford University College (RUC) Graduate Fashion show featured some children suffering from the mental condition. Furthermore, this was part of its effort to create awareness of autism.

The event was at the plush Kempiski Hotel in Accra. Moreover, it was to showcase the creative designs of its graduating students. In the show, autistic children modeled clothes by a graduating student, Cynthia Agbley.

Moreover, she explained her motivation for using the autistic children. She stated that it was to encourage parents of autistic children that all hope is not lost.

Austism is a mental condition, present from early childhood. The characteristics are great difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people. Also, in using language and abstract concepts.

Cynthia Agbley called for more sensitization on autism. This was to combat the stigma associated with the condition.

About Radford Graduate Fashion Show

The Radford Graduate Fashion Show is an excellent platform for the promotion of new talent. Furthermore, it is to showcase the work of the college’s best fashion and graphic design graduates.

The event saw graduates from the Fashion and Design Department of the University showing their latest collections and designs. Moreover, samples of their designs were modelled to the admiration of guests who gathered at the university’s premises for the event.

It ranges from corporate, casual and African wear, to wedding gowns innovatively designed with colourful fabrics.
