Sarkodie Rips Shatta Wale Apart In A Yet-To-Be-Released Song

Celebrated rapper, Micheal Owusu Addo, best known as Sarkodie has responded to the several

attacks launched on him by Dancehall star, Shatta Wale.

Shatta Wale has in the last two weeks been embarking on a media tour to promote his upcoming ‘Reign Album’.

In his quest to promote the album however, the ‘Gringo’ hitmaker incurred the wrath of three other Ghanaian artistes. They are; Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Kwaw Kese through some unsavory comments.

The self-acclaimed Dancehall king started attacking Sarkodie’s personality revealing that he is a very good friend of Sarkodie but he felt disrespected when the rapper failed to allow them to shoot the video for their hit single “Megye wo girl” which was a banging tune after it was released.

But he(Sarkodie) went to Nigeria to shoot videos with artiste he doesn’t even know very well.

Sarkodie has however replied Shatta in a video which is a teaser of a yet-to-be-released song.

“…. Shatta Wale se s? ?tu me fo a menfa, mahunu atra….”, to wit; Shattta Wale says I don’t listen to his advice, but I already know.. “, that’s an excerpt of Sarkodie’s yet-to-be-released diss song to Shatta.

Ghanaians Slam Sarkodie For Promoting A Nigerian Music On Instagram

Some social media users have slammed Rapper Sarkodie for promoting an upcoming song from a Nigerian artiste.

Sarkodie shared a video from Peter Psquare’s soon-to-be-released single and urged his followers to watch out for the song.

“New fire from minister of Enjoyment Peter Psquare, Out now”, he wrote.

This however did not go down well with Ghanaians, especially his followers who felt Sarkodie should be using his platform to promote Ghanaian artistes and not the already-made Nigerian acts.

Most of his followers, to show Sarkodie how pissed off they were took to the comment section to throw some unsavory jabs at the rapper.

Others also used the comment section to advise him to take down the post and promote Ghanaian acts instead.

Background

The anger from Instagram users emanates from how some Ghanaian top acts including

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were treated by a Nigerian crowd three days ago,

when they performed at a Zylofon concert in the West African country.

At the event, the Nigerian crowd refused to give the Ghanaian artistes any sort of recognition,

or even cheer them, with most of them just chatting among themselves while the Ghanaian artistes performed.

Ghanaians have since called on the media to stop giving Nigerian music all the attention and airplay on our airwaves and begin to treat their music and musicians like the way they treat ours.

Below are screenshots of some of the comments on Sarkodie’s post;

The ‘Total Cheat,’ a song by Tamele-based artiste, Fancy Gadam featuring Sarkodie has been making lots of headlines.

It was this same song that won the Most Popular song of the Year at the 2018 VGMA awards. This was after it had shockingly beaten Patapaa’s highly tipped ‘One Corner’ song.

The question asked about the misogyny inherent in the lyrics and further asked students to list its consequences.

‘Total Cheat’ was released in July 2017, and it so far has over 700, 000 views on Youtube.

However, this is not the first time we’re witnessing exam questions being set based on popular occurrence or personality in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.

Social Media ‘Attacks’ Sarkodie, DJ Mensah Over ‘Say I Do’ Video

Social media users have descended on the Untouchable DJ Mensah and Sarkodie over their latest video for ‘Say I Do’.

The video, which was released a couple of days ago has received lukewarm comments from a section of women.

To these women, they couldn’t fathom why DJ Mensah had to use only light skinned ladies to play full concept of the video.

Meanwhile, there are also the ever beautiful dark skinned ladies who could have been involved.

They therefore believe that the video is an insult to them and hence their attack on the artistes.

Meanwhile, others also believe the song “Say I Do” seems to be a love song. Hence, they could have come up with a beautiful traditional wedding concept to project the beauty of our culture. But as it stands, that was not the case.

A report on Ghanaweb.com stated that DJ Mensah, when he was reached out on the matter, said that there is nothing he can say for now. But until then, the director which is Yaw Skyface is best to answer such questions.

Despite concerns for the video, its views keep growing each and every single day.

Sarkodie on “Say I Do” talks about him falling in love with this beautiful lady he met, and why he will marry her anytime soon.

The concept alone is another reason why we think he should have featured a dark skinned woman to play a role in it.

Sarkodie Disrespected Me – Yemi Alade

Well it seems not everyone feels as deeply about Sarkodie.

Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade has said she has ceased being a fan of Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie. This is because Sarkodie disrespected her and failed to feature on her song.

Yemi Alade made these statements to Bola Ray on Starr Chat show. Yemi Alade revealed how disappointed she was when Sarkodie refused to show up. This was after her management team and that of Sarkodie had agreed to meet in the USA, UK and South Africa.

Her Words

I’ve really tried my best to really not go into details but the long and short on why i don’t want to dwell on this is that is super unfair, unprofessional and unkind for international acts or even artistes to have a dealing with anybody and after agreeing to certain things, you don’t come through at all. There were three different countries and three different venues where my team and I had an agreement with Sarkodie and he didn’t come through.

“I don’t want to bring in the feminine and masculine inequality we’re experiencing in the industry and i don’t want to link it to that. I was pained as a person but i’ll say it is almost impossible to promote a project that is supposed to be for two people when the other party isn’t coming through at all, the music pretty much suffers.”

Bola asked if she felt disrespected and she replied in the affirmative.

“I definitely felt disrespected. However, the good part about it is I already had a name for myself. I’ll continue to do that for as long as I can and as God leads me to. It was just a point in my career that I went over and I’m so fortunate. For instance I’m here in Ghana and working on a song with Mzvee. It takes two to tango. I’m here to support her and she supports me too.”

Yemi Alade asserted that even though Sarkodie hasn’t apologised, she’s not waiting for one.

He didn’t get back to apologise, but I’m cool and not bothered at all. I tried three times, it is enough. We sort of like found ourselves in same location in America, UK and in South Africa and anytime we always got thumbs up but the moment we step out of that box to get things done and probably link up at the agreed point, it never happened, it was gross unprofessionalism as far as i’m concern and I really don’t want to talk about it because I’m like it’s over and done.“

Finally, she said, “I don’t listen to his music, no more fan of him. I only work with artistes I’m a fan of. I’m just not a fan of him anymore.
