Ghanaian International performing artiste, Noella Wiyaala has revealed that having children is

not one of the many things on her bucket-list now.

The songstress, who has been married for close to five years  now in an interview on the Delay Show on Sunday, February 25,  said;

“I am not yearning for children at all. I have been married for four years and having children is the least of my worries.

“Children are not like teddy bears you can play with and throw away when you are tired of them, they become part of you. I need to think through before making that decision.”

Asked if her husband is in support of her decision, Wiyaala said he is an understanding man

who always wants her to have her way.

“I have discussed with my husband about children and he says he is in support of anything I want. If I want children fine and if I don’t he is cool with it.

“Maybe my mother is the reason I might have a child because I know she loves children and she would love for me to have one,” she said.

Away from childbirth, Wiyaala, who doesn’t wear a ring said she does not need to wear it for

people to know that she is married.

According to the 32-year old singer, once her husband is cool with her not wearing a ring, she

doesn’t really care what anyone says.

“I have an understanding man who doesn’t care about what people say about me but always makes sure I am happy. We understand each other and I believe that is the reason we flow,” she said.

Wiyalaa is popular for songs like Make Me Dance, Sun and Moon, Siiko, Bunsun, Africa, Leno,

Village Sex, Tuma, Angel, Got The Power among others.

Songstress Wiayaala has revealed that she married on one hot Thursday afternoon right after her husband’s proposal.

According to her, her husband, who happens to be a white man suddenly proposed to her and

insisted they got married right there if only she said yes.

She added that event though she wasn’t wasn’t prepared she agreed to marry him because she loves him.

Wiyaala shocked her fans last year when she revealed that she had been married for four years then.

Asked why she kept her married life private she said;

“Because it’s nobody’s business, for me when i came into the industry, one of the things I didn’t want to invite people is what happens in my bedroom, or if I post a picture of a man oh I’m dating this guy the next day maybe we break up and i post another one now i’m dating this guy, you know the perception, oh this is the new guy doing your thing, so it’s like you’re changing, you’re just having sex. And I think it’s one of the sacred things that when you keep private, it helps you a lot”

On why only four people were present at her wedding and why she doesn’t wear a wearing ring, she explained that;

“My husband is not a Ghanaian and his family wasn’t there at the moment, it just happened, it was that moment when he said, marry me please and I was like how and he said right now if you say yes let’s get married now. Everybody was like are you serious and he said yes. I was even in my slippers and it was one hot Thursday afternoon.”

She added that she got married without a ring and even though her husband said if she wants a

ring he will get her one, she is not a fan of wearing jewelries, hence she has declined wearing one.

“I don’t need a ring to say I am married,” she said.

Wiyaala was speaking during an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, aka Delay on her popular ‘Delay Show’.

She however refused to tell who exactly her husband is stating that “anyone who wants to know who my husband is should come to my house”

Ghanaian songstress, Wiyaala Noella has said that only immature men will say she is not beautiful.

According to the Upper West region’s biggest music export, she believes she is so beautiful and

that’s why her husband fell flat when he saw her.

Wiyaala said this when she appeared on the Delay Show.

Nicknamed the ‘African Lioness’ noted that growing up, most of the men that came into contact with her described her as been rigid but to her, those are boys and not men.

“Me I know I’m one of the most beautiful women on this planet. God has blessed me with a beautiful body and i will never trade it for anything in this world,” she said.

She again noted that mature men appreciate her beauty and therefore her confidence will never dwindle.

“When i was growing up, a lot of the men that saw me and saw beautiful a woman was more like the real men. It takes a real man to look at a girl like me and say wow, this is a beautiful woman. All these chewing gum boys and small small men, they just look at you and just because you’re not wearing a heavy make-up, and it’s not the usual they see, they’re not matured,” she said.

Wiyaala is one of Ghana’s biggest acts in the music industry making the country proud internationally.

She recently released the visuals for her song ‘Feeling Free’ which she self directed and produced under her label, Djimba World Records and it’s doing quite well on the music scenes.

Ghanaian international recording artiste, Noella Wiyaala has made another interesting move

by taking her annual Djimba World Festival back to Funsi, where as a child she used to organise

the village children to entertain the Chief.

It’s counter-intuitive initiatives like these which are contributing to Wiyaala’s ever growing

world wide popularity.

It was no surprise when the BBC named Wiyaala as one of their “Celebrated African Women” of 2018.

It’s by taking the Djimba World Festival to her far away village, that Wiyaala can offer the wider

world a window through which to look at a truly authentic African event. In making such moves,

the Upper West singer songwriter, popularly known as the “Lioness of Africa”, is year on year,

patiently building a life time brand that is encouraging more and more foreigners to respond

“Wiyaala” when you say “Ghana”.

Wiyaala’s goal, however, is to create a community focus event, with the community as much a part of the festival as the performers. She achieves this through four main themes, social responsibility, a children’s talent show, traditional performance and a contemporary concert.

The first was a collaboration with Bliss Eye Care, an Upper West NGO lead by Optometrist, Dr. Zakaria Alhassan Balure, to bring a free eye clinic to treat visually impaired children.

The second strand, was to create a three day child star talent competition which included the prize of a free recording session with Wiyaala.

The third element was a traditional dancing and cultural display by the Kyansia Troup from Funsi. The three-day festival then

Wrapping up the three-day festival however was a concert, which was headlined by King Ayisoba and Wiyaala alongside local talents who also got their chance to shine.

In her speech, she acknowledged all who were there to support her.

“I want say thank you to the whole community of Funsi who helped me build the stage, the guys who volunteered to do security and maintained order, the artists who performed, the dancers, the children and especially Doctor Zak of Bliss Eye Care and King Ayisoba who travelled all the way from Accra to be with us. We’ll do it again in 2019, God willing!”

Ghanaian singer, Noella Wiyaala is obviously a global woman now considering what

the South China Morning Post has to say about her.

The South China Morning Post, published in Hong Kong, has cited the Ghanaian

singer as a role model for Chinese women to follow.

Luisa Tam, senior editor at the Post, wrote “Like Wiyaala, we must look deep inside ourselves

and find out what makes us special, and then own it and wear it proudly. That’s individuality,

and it’s cool to be one of a kind.”

The writer was commenting on women around the world who are shaking up society’s

traditional view of female beauty whilst singling out South Korea, where an increasing

number of women are joining the #EscapeTheCorset movement, the latest in a series

of feminist initiatives in the country since the #MeToo campaign.

She explains: “The movement aims to detox society of the many harmful ideals of what it means to be feminine, and beautiful. It encourages women to escape the corset of traditional beauty standards, and instead come to accept and be proud of who they are.”

In fulsome praise of Wiyaala’s tenacity and influence, Luisa added; “Ghanaian pop star Noella Wiyaala, the self-proclaimed “Lioness of Africa”, was rejected three times by a television talent show. The reason? The executives said she wasn’t “feminine” enough for their show.

In spite of this, she has repeatedly refused to conform to their traditional idea of what makes a woman beautiful. Rather than turn herself into another Beyoncé or Rihanna, she has kept her short hair and muscular body. Wiyaala said she “didn’t care” about what the executives thought, and preferred to be herself, and wear her short hair because she “feels cool”.

On her fourth attempt, she won in the show and is proud to be singing in her native Sissala language, and has spring boarded it into prominence, and on to the world stage.”
