I Was Told My Boobs Were Too Small – Leila Djansi

After Lydia Forson told her tale of how a producer wanted to feel her breasts before given her a role; other people have come out to talk about the sexual harassment they have also gone through.

One such person is Leila Djansi. She has started writing about her own sexual harassment stories and experiences on Facebook.

She has taken to Facebook for a weeklong storytelling of how she has been sexually harassed both in Ghana and America.

She tells a story on how she was not paid her salary because she refused to kiss her boss. Some of the stories are below:

I’ll share my sexual harassment stories all week. In Ghana and in America.”

Ghana: When I started out, a TV station owed me money. I met with the head for my payment and he asked me to kiss him first. I said no. Went home without pay. Spent another week without food. My dad was down with stroke so there was no way I was asking my parents for money. Thanks to friends who invited me to their meals.

“America: My previous attorney who ended up robbing me. He said my boobs were too small, industry men will not find me attractive enough to give me deals. His advice was to get a partner with big boobs who’d use her sexuality to get me into rooms.”

These stories are heartbreaking and show a bigger picture of how insidious sexual harassment is in the fabric of society.

As a society we should not stand for it and must speak up at every point.
