Embattled Kenyan rapper, Khaligraph Jones has opened up on battling depression during his early days as an artist.

The Rap King who recently got crowned Africa´s Best Hip Hop at at the annual Soundcity MVP awards in lagos, Nigeria, shared his past with BBC.

Khaligraph admitted that so many people try to pull you down even before you even find stable ground and easily mislead you.

You are out there trying to do music and you get opinions from people who are constantly trying to bring you down, telling you to choose another career path. It was really depressing.

For him however, he gave them all a deaf ear and trusted in God to shape his career and hold him strong til date, as a proud multi award-winning rapper.

Years down the line, the ¨Me Siogopi¨ rap act said he is proud to be a role model to his fans.
