2019 AFRIMA awards nominees’ list is finally out! Kenya is well represented

The much-anticipated 2019 AFRIMA awards nominees’ list is finally out. The competition among well crafted artistes across the African continent was admirable.

Speaking in regard to the release of the 6th AFRIMA final nominees’ list, Delani Makhalima, a member of the International Jury of AFRIMA, representing South Africa, expressed:

As with each year, the musicians never cease to amaze us with their incredible talent.

On the lead is South Africa’s Nasty C with 9 nominations, closely followed by Tanzania’s Diamond taking up 4 nominations. Also are Kenya’s upcoming talents like Olivia Ambani.

Among other key Kenyan figures on the list are: Nyashinski, Sauti Sol, Khaligraph and Nikitta Kering.

An overwhelmed Delani adds:

As jurors, we are impressed with the quality of work being produced. We are confident that the nominees’ list presented this year is a true reflection of world-class African talent, and each year it gets harder and harder to judge and grade the standard, as all regions on the African continent continue to surprise us by what we see and hear.

Further revealing that it is her delight to witness such massive support from fans to African artists.

We are enthusiastic to see this wave of appreciation transcend across the border and overseas.

She urges the African music industry to put in more work and keep submitting their productions. In order to celebrate together the progress and pinnacles of where African music is soaring towards.
