Betty Kyallo explains why she was forced to quit KTN after 8 amazing years at the station

Betty Kyallo held her last show on KTN on August 3rd 2018, it was a very emotional farewell for the anchor as she cried while bidding her fans goodbye.

Betty worked at KTN for almost a decade, she rose through the ranks over the years to become the face of KTN. Her show ‘Friday Briefing’ was one of the most exciting having introduced guest anchor for the first time on Kenyan TV.

The mother of one debuted on K24 after a four month hiatus, she anchored her first news at the Kijabe Street based TV station on December 8th 2018.

Why did she quit KTN?

Betty opened up about leaving KTN after 8 long years during a recent interview with Parents Magazine. The celebrated journalist was featured on the cover of Parents Magazine January edition.

She reveals that she left KTN for K24 because she felt that she had accomplished what she was meant to at the Mombasa road based TV station.

“I felt that I had accomplished what I was meant to at KTN. I had built a career and a name for myself. I had started a show format that was new in the Kenyan media scene when I ventured into the world of interactive news but after four and a half years of Friday Briefing, I needed something different and more challenging. It was a tough transition because I had not known any home apart from KTN, having grown from an intern to running my own show,” said Betty Kyallo.
