Big blow to Wema Sepetu in her drug case as her lawyer suddenly abandons her

Wema Sepetu has been dealt a heavy blow after her lawyer suddenly decided to quit. Peter Kibatala has been representing Wema Sepetu in court from the very first day she was charged with being in possession of a banned substance.

Wema Sepetu was arrested on February 4th 2017 in a drug sweep by the police. The former Tanzanian beauty queen was found in possession of marijuana at her house.

Wema spent close to a week in police custody before she was finally presented in court. She was charged with being in possession of 1.80 grams of marijuana.

The actress’ case been dragging in court for close to a year now. Wema Sepetu has been forced to find a new lawyer after Peter Kibatala decided to quit.

Peter Kibatala refuses to reveal why he suddenly decided to drop his client. The lawyer wrote to the court to notify them that he will no longer represent Wema Sepetu in the drug case she’s facing.

“Sisi tumejitoa kwenye hii kesi na tutaifahamisha mahakama kuwa hatutaweza kumwakilisha tena mshtakiwa Wema Isaack Sepetu kwenye kesi hii na Wema atawatambulisha mawakili wake wapya mahakamani siku kesi itakapoendelea kusikilizwa tumeishukuru mahakama kwa ushirikiano wake wote uliotupa katika kipindi chote cha kesi hii na tukaiambia mahakama kama kuna sehemu wakati tunendesha kesi hiyo basi tunajua mahakama itatusamehe maan hatujakamilika lakini siwezi kusema sababu ya kwa nini tumeacha kumwakilisha mshtakiwa maana maadili ya uwakili hayatakiwi kuzungumza mambo ya mteja hadharani,” Peter Kibatala told Bongo 5.

Wema Sepetu is currently being represented by a new lawyer Albert Msando.
