Zimbabwe military rulers don’t want foreign journalists flying into their country. Five foreign journalists attempting to enter Zimbabwe were returned home.

Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) seized power from Robert Mugabe on Wednesday. Foreign journalists have been flying into the landlocked southern African nation to get first hand information about the crisis.

Tamera Griffin – a correspondent for American news website BuzzFeed was among foreign journalists who flew to Zimbabwe.

The Nairobi-based foreign journalist was held up at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport upon touchdown. Tamera says immigration officials held her and other journalists for 20 minutes.

Only two out of the seven journalists were allowed into Zimbabwe. The remaining five journalists were sent back to the country of origin.

Tamara says there were no explanations given to them as to why they were being deported. She also reveals that she didn’t see Zimbabwe Defence Forces soldiers at the airport.
