DJ Numz, Kenyan DJ who is taking over the world with fire mixes

There is a disc jockey who has become the talk of the town because of his love African music and if you have not heard about him yet, it’s time you did. No kidding.

His name is Sam Ogwagwa, alias DJ Numz and believe you me this guy has some fire mixes that will make you hit the replay button at least a couple of times.

DJ Numz has more than 100 mixes of different genres and his main goal is to influence the youth to love positive African music and local beats like Benga.

His major source of inspiration is the legendary Franco Luambo who is one of the greatest Rhumba artists who also pioneered the beat as we know it and caused it to be known all over Africa.

In an interview with Ghafla, he revealed that he is keen on changing the stereotypes in the local industry include that Rhumba is for the older generation and for heavyweights with money.

He says that it makes young people shun it yet the music genre carries cultural influences and lessons that might shape the young African mind to appreciate our own identity and shared experiences.

DJ Numz has always always loved music, especially Bongo Flavor and Benga. He began his journey with Rhumba in 2015 and has grown his following steadily.

His goal is to become the greatest rhumba DJ in east Africa in the next 5 years. This is because there’re no highly rated DJ in the genre and he is working to fill the gap.

We also asked him whether he is seeing someone and he categorically told us that he is engaged to the beautiful Carol Numz and they’re set to exchange their vows on November 20th- this month!
