‘E’ Graders Association chairman sends a message of hope to 2017 KCSE under-performers

Did you know that there is an association of people who scored a mean grade of ‘E’ in KCSE? The association’s chairman has sent a message to 2017 under-performers.

A 2017 KCSE candidate from Migori committed suicide because she scored C minus. ‘E’ Graders Association exists to change the notion that KCSE under-performers are doomed.

A total of 35,536 candidates scored a mean grade of ‘E’ in 2017 KCSE. 179, 381 scored D-minus, 135,55o scored D plain, 88, 447 scored D+ plus while 61, 040 scored C- minus, while 40, 474 scored C plain.

The minimum university qualification is a C+ plus. Most people who fail to attain C+ and above are usually considered to have failed.

Only 70,073 candidates attained the university entry grade of C+ and above of the 615,772 candidates who wrote this year’s KCSE exam.

Kenya ‘E’ Graders Association chairman Ayub Simba Njagi says there is hope for KCSE under-performers. He says his group provides a platform where those who attained ‘E’ come together to plan for their future.

“We formed the group in 2015. Many students have been scoring E’s in KCSE, and the number is increasing every year. Sadly, many of us have been ignored, which is why we came together so that we can have a platform on which to share our good and bad times, while planning for our future,” Ayub Simba Njagi told The Nairobian.

Ayub sat for KCSE in 2011 and scored a mean grade of ‘E’. He scored Es in all subject except English which he scored D- minus.
