Harambee Stars players smile all the way to the bank after winning Cecafa. This is how much they pocketed

Harambee Stars beat Zanzibar to win Cecafa Senior Challenge cup in a match played in Machakos on Sunday. The Kenyan team took away millions of shillings after winning the trophy.

Harambee Star settled for a 2-2 draw with Zanzibar in the normal time. Stars beat their opponent 3-2 in post match penalties to win the Cecafa trophy.

Kenyan goalkeeper Patrick Matasi was the hero of the game after he blocked three penalties. The stadium erupted in shouts after Matasi saved the last penalty shot.

Prize money

Harambee Stars players will be smiling all the way to the bank after winning the title. The prize money for winning Cecafa was Kes 3 million from tournament sponsors SportPesa but stars also pocketed allowances and bonuses.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa announced that up to Kes 6 million will be shared among the players and technical bench on winning the Cecafa title.

Governors Mike Sonko and Alfred Mutua also pledged 1 million each to Harambee Stars. DP William Ruto gave the Kenyan team Kes 5 million.

In total Harambee Stars have at least 16 million to share among themselves. Kudos, Harambee Stars for making Kenya proud!
