Two officers of the Administration Police (AP) were lynched by villagers before being set on fire when they raided illicit liquor den in Marabu village in Voi.
The two officers, who have been identified as Sgt Hamisi Nzao and Cprl Mwiti, were attacked last weekend as they carry out the raid will dressed in civilian clothes.
Apparently angry villagers mistook them for thugs and attacked them with crude weapons before setting them ablaze.
The two officers were rescued by their colleagues who responded to distress call from them. Reports indicate that Sgt Hamisi Nzao succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment in hospital.
