‘I Was A Matatu Conductor At 5 Years’ Former Machachari Actor Govi On His Life Challenges

Machachari actor Malik Lemmy, popularly known as Govi has opened up about the challenges he has been facing in life, before becoming an actor and afterwards. The 20 year old reveals that he got his first cheque when he was only two years old. Born in the year 2000 in Nairobi, the young lad says that in his early life, his parents lived with him in relatives houses, moving from one house to another. As a kid, he got his first acting role at Makutano Junction.

In addition, Govi claims that they never got regular meals as his parents slept hungry some days. When he was just five years old, living in South B, he became a matatu tout.

He adds that both him and his cousin used to make 20 shillings from the job. After a while, his mum got a call from a producer who linked him with his first acting role in Machachari at 8 years old. They did Machachari until 2019. At this point, Govi decided to quit the show. However, he has decided to keep his reasons for quitting private.

Last year, Malik took to social media and decried that some of the child stars who braced the show had been struggling financially as well as getting inappropriate comments from certain Kenyans.

Hopefully, we will be seeing Malik on our screens again very soon.
