“Is this what has become of humanity?” Sauti Sol mourn 7-year-old kid shot dead by police in Pipeline estate

Police are on the spot again for killing an innocent child in Pipeline area in Embakasi. Geoffrey Mutinda was shot dead by police while he was playing at the balcony.

Geoffrey’s father Peter Mutuku says police were sporadically firing bullets in Pipeline on Tuesday November 28th. Mutuku’s son was hit by a stray bullet while he was playing on the first floor balcony of his father’s apartment.

The kid’s death happened when police were engaging Nasa supporters in ruling battles in Embakasi. Police were trying to block Nasa supporters from attending a rally at Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi East.

A pregnant woman was also shot in the leg in Pipeline estate. The woman was on the same balcony where Geoffrey Mutinda was killed.

The killing of Geoffrey sparked protests from residents in Pipeline. The 7-year-old kid was a class two pupil at Remedy Academy in Mwala, Machakos County. Geoffrey was only in Nairobi for the Christmas holiday.

Is this what has become of humanity?

Sauti Sol mourned the death of Geoffrey Mutinda. The music group is however horrified by what has become of the police in Kenya.

It’s not the first police are on the spot for killings kids. In August police killed six-month-old baby Samantha Pendo by hitting her on the head with a baton.

Same August police killed 8-year-old Stephanie Moraa in Mathare. Stephanie was also shot dead at the balcony of her parents’ house in Mathare slums.

“Geoffrey Mutinda was only 7 years old. ? Is this what has become of humanity? #RIP” wrote Sauti Sol
