Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho escaped bullets as his bodyguard was shot in the leg during a chaotic ODM rally that was held in Migori town on April 3rd 2017.
What started as a peaceful rally turned into bloody violence when Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his supporters stormed Junet Mohamed’s re-election rally at Posta ground.
It has now emerged that governor Joho’s bodyguard was shot and injured by a bodyguard attached to the Migori governor.
Joho and Okoth have since buried the hatchet, the two governors forgave each other after a soul searching meeting.
The two county bosses held talks at the Raila Odinga Secretariat at Capital Hill and agreed to hold free and fair nominations for ODM.
The root cause of the chaos witnessed in Migori was mistrust; Okoth felt sidelined and claimed he had not been informed of the rally.
