Kartelo Urges Kenyans To Support Gengetone Music, Says Youths Depend A Lot On It To Make A Living

Where did Gengetone music go to? This has been the question by most people after a noticeable drought of the juiced up music genre. Gengetone music rose to fame between the year 2018 to 2019 and was the genre that almost everyone was jamming to.

Ethic, Ochungulo Family and Sailors were the most famous Gengetone groups during that period. More and more groups started coming up shortly after and entertained the nation with their sheng lyrics and hyped music beats. The unique entertainment from the genre is now depreciating tremendously. Only a handful of songs manage to perform well nowadays.

We have witnessed some members pulling out of their groups; such as Ochungulo Family; who splitted up with Benzema; and Sailors, who parted ways with Lexxy Yung, who decided to go to gospel.

Kartelo Speaks

Without a doubt, the genre is mostly characterized by young artists with impeccable knowledge on the sheng language; and this is why the ‘sheng master’ Kartelo wants more support for these artists.

Speaking on his social media, Kartelo claimed that most youths are depending on such to feed their families. He urged Kenyans not to be happy about downfall of the youths; but instead support them by any means.

This was after he went silent for a long period and made people to speculate that he was on drugs. Turns out, everything is good on his side; all he wants is support. Kartelo featured in Gengetone songs such as ‘Kimonyoski’. Maybe there’s more to come.
