Through his social media, the BBC reporter shared:

Thanks a million! I can’t wait for Instagram to hide likes, starting in the US this week. I have a million followers & thousands of likes but using either for validation is unhealthy & dangerous.

Further explaining:

It creates an impossible standard for most people. I hope they’re removed permanently for everyone around the world.

Sure to it, Kenyans were actually in approval of the move airing:

Second that !

BOOOOOM ????????

Well done mate and I totally agree with you. We need to go beyond the likes…

The project that started in July, has already kicked off in Australia, Brazil, Canada Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand.

One can however  still view the ´like´ count on their own photos and videos, but not that of others. Instagram´s Adam Mosseri explained that the intention was to take care of people´s well-being and health.
