Kiambu Women Rep not ready to share her husband with any woman despite calling on Kikuyu men to marry at least five wives

Sometimes in April 2018, Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba made headlines when she called on Kikuyu men to take up to five wives.

“We give birth to these children, and we do not want to own up to them. If you are a man from the Kikuyu community, and you can sustain five wives, have them and if you are a man and you are in a position to bring up many children do it,” said Wamuchomba.

While Wamuchomba openly advocated for polygamy, she is however not ready to share her husband with any other woman. The Kiambu Women Rep blamed the media for misinterpreting her statement during a recent interview with Massawe Japanni on radio Jambo.

Massawe pressed Wamuchomba to state whether she could share her husband, but she evaded the question saying that her statement was misinterpreted, clearly indicating that she wasn’t ready for polygamy.

“Unajua sasa shida yenu nyinyi watu ambao mnachukua hii habari tunaongea huwa mnatengeneza story zenu on top of a story.
