Mike Sonko finally explains why he chose to twang while delivering his speech at the Blue Economy Conference 

Mike Sonko’s speech at the Blue Economy Conference has been trending on social media for days, the Nairobi governor opted to speak in American accent for the first time ever.

He pronounced words like city as “cirri” and Kenyatta as “Kinyarra” to the disbelief of Kenyans who knows the governor’s academic background well.

Why the fake accent?

Mike Sonko now explains that he adapt the American twang while delivering his speech to impress the international delegation that gathered in Nairobi for the Blue Economy Conference.

“Mgeni siku ya kwanza, mpe mchele na panza, rice with flying fish. Mtilie kifuani, embrace him, mkaribishe… Asanteni sana Moreso Uhuru Kinyarra,” Sonko captioned the video in which he was giving a vote thanking after the departure of the international guest.
