Nairobi’s first Hessy who ended crime in Githurai sentenced to 15 years in prison over murder of notorious thug

Githurai crime-buster has been handed a 15 year jail sentence by the court. Titus Ngamau Musila alias Katitu was found guilty of the 2013 shootings of a suspect at Githurai 45 bus stage.

Katitu was the first Hessy even though he didn’t use social media like the current Hessys. He was arrested in 2014 for shooting alleged notorious gangster.

Katitu was arrested after a family of the suspected robber he gunned down at the Githurai bus terminus lodged a complaint with the Independent Police Oversight Authority (Ipoa) accusing him of extra-judicial killings.

Katitu’s arrest sparked three-day demonstrations in Githurai in September 2014. Residents blocked Thika road demanding Katitu’s immediate release.

Protestors said insecurity had re-surfaced in Githurai and Zimmerman areas where Katitu had helped in flushing out all criminals.

The then Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko bailed out Katitu and the tension subsided. Prosecutors however were out for blood and Katitu was soon thrown back to Industrial Area Prison.

15 year jail term

High Court Judge James Wakiaga on Thursday April 5th found Katitu guilty of murdering Kenneth Kimani Mwangi on April 14, 2013 at the Githurai 45 bus stage.

The Githurai crime-buster was handed a 15 year jail term by the judge. Katitu will however serve less term since he has already served four years in custody while awaiting conclusion of his case.
