Photos of University of Nairobi student who died as a result of horrifying medical negligence at Kenyatta Hospital

The shocking mix-up at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) resulted to the death of University of Nairobi student. Kenyans were shocked to learn that surgeons at KNH opened the skull of a patient who should not have gone under the scalpel.

Angelos Miano Muthee lost his life as surgeons operated on a patient they thought was him. The second year Bachelor of Commerce student at the University of Nairobi lay in his hospital bed as his family pleaded with nurses to have him attended to.

A few meters from Miano’s bed surgeons were busy operating on a wrong patient who should not have gone under the knife at the first place.

Miano’s condition had deteriorated and his chances of survival significantly diminished by the time the mistake was discovered.

Miano was taken to Kenyatta after he was involved in an accident. The 25-year-old was slated to be operated in his skull to remove a clot in his brain.

Cover-up

Miano’s family claims that after doctors at Kenyatta Hospital tried covering up their blunder after they realized they had done a mistake.

The deceased’s father says doctors they did not own up but instead took the family round in circles failing to give an explanation why Miano did not undergo the surgery.

Miano’s body was transferred from Nairobi to Cherangany Nursing home in Kitale last Friday.
