Suzanna Explained! Bien Aime spills it all

Sauti Sol´s vocalist, Bien Aime Baraza has revealed their latest hit ´Suzanna´ is about everything we use to conceal our real image.

From makeup, to alcohol, to the Gram, to the monikers…all that explains their new jam.

Suzanna is everything that you use to mask the real you. It can be makeup, alcohol or I have tried to be so many people before I settled on being Bien.

In an exclusive interview with Mpasho, the soulful singer-songwriter revealed the song is actually an old ballad whose time had come.

I wrote the song two years ago and after I wrote it, I forgot about it. When we were doing the album, I decided to finish it and it sounded so great. Once I shared it on my Instagram, it went viral. On a different occasion, I was in a hotel in Nakuru and heard the video I had on social media, being played. It´s then that we decided to release the song.

After realizing it´s popularity, they dropped the jam and the rest…was history.

But why opt for the title ´Suzanna´ and not ´Senje´?

We went with Suzanna because it´s a much more Global context. Senje is an aunt but in this context, it´s the random aunt who everyone relates to including touts. E.g, when they tell you ´Aunty unashukia wapi?´

Premiered just the 6th of February, the song has hit way over 2.6 Million views and still trending on You Tube, now at #4 position.
