Uhuru’s lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi: Send Sonko back to prison to serve the remainder of his term

Ahmednasir Abdullahi has revived calls to have Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko sent back to prison to serve the remainder of his term.

The Nairobi governor was briefly jailed at the Shimo la Tewa prison over a controversial land deal, he was still a young man at the time.

Sonko reportedly escaped from Shimo la Tewa where was supposed to be incarcerated for six months. He denies escaping but the issue still haunts him to date, Miguna Miguna highlighted the issue during Nairobi gubernatorial debates.

Back to prison

City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi is asking Sonko to go back to prison to serve the remainder of his term. Ahmednasir was commenting on a Standard newspaper article where Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe called for Sonko’s impeachment.

Lawyers Donald Kipkorir and Ahmednasir Abdullahi‏ speak of Daily Nation’s refusal to publish Larry Madowo’s article

Larry Madowo was shocked after Daily Nation refused to publish his opinion piece. Nation’s refusal comes after government crackdown on ‘errant’ media houses.

Surprisingly CNN picked Madowo’s opinion piece and published it after Daily Nation refused. The article titled ‘Why it’s a perilous time to be a journalist in Kenya’ addresses the intimidation of journalists by the government.

Larry Madowo, Ken Mijungu and Linus Kaikai were to be arrested by police for speaking against media shutdown in the wake of Raila Odinga’s swearing in.

“This week, the @dailynation refused to print my column for the first time in nearly 4 years. The irony aside, the same piece is now published on CNN,” wrote Larry Madowo.

Reactions

Larry’s opinion piece has elicited mixed reactions. There are those who patted him on the back while others think he shouldn’t question his employer.

Lawyer Donald Kipkorir congratulated Larry for standing up to his employer. He says Nation’s refusal to publish his article only opened doors of opportunity for Larry.

“One ill-advised local administrative act has given you global opening … As they say, when one window closes, a door opens … LM, you belong to the World, not a Village they want to pigeon you,” Donald Kipkorir tweeted.

Uhuru’s lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi however had no nice words to tell Madowo. He says Larry is not a self respecting journalist and should resign from NMG for passing a vote of no confidence in his employer.

“That is a vote of no confidence by your employer…and any self respecting journalist (and you are undoubtedly one) will have no option but resign from the employment service of such an employer,” Ahmednasir Abdullahi tweeted.

“I look back and say ‘Emmanuel, you have been naive… why didn’t you think about that before?’ It is hard. Very, very hard. The money I earned, I sent it to my wife for our children. KOT left in stitches as Orengo’s wife Betty Murungi takes a swipe at president Uhuru’s lawyer

Uhuru Kenyatta’s lawyer taunted James Orengo’s wife on Twitter and he regretted it. Betty Kaari Murungi is also a tough lawyer just like her husband who is a senior counsel.

The president’s lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi took to Twitter to provoke Murungi. He asked her what would happen to the Canaan trip following Raila’s withdrawal from the presidential race.

“@bettymurungi Where does the withdrawal of Hon Raila leave the trip to Canaan? And for those who bought tickets where are refunds processed,” Ahmednasir Abdullahi‏ tweeted.

Betty hits Ahmednasir below the belt

Betty responded by explaining  that the journey to Canaan wasn’t a one day trip, she said that Raila followers were refueling. Orengo’s wife also advised Ahmednasir to get better legal minds on his team.

“Refueling. Journey to Canaan si ya siku nane! BTW, get better legal minds on your team. It’s becoming embarrassing for your ‘frens’,” Betty Murungi tweeted.

Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) joined the conversation and started trolling  Ahmednasir:
