Sad goodbyes! Amina Abdi Rabar hangs the mic at Capital FM

Word is rife that stylish media personality, Amina Abdi Rabar has quietly ditched her home for nearly a decade, Capital FM.

This is after the Capital Group-owned, urban music radio station witnessed a mass exodus of its presenters in the last couple of months.

However, an announcement Amina has since kept under wraps.

At Capital FM, she has been working with renowned media personality Fareed Khimani for their morning show where she has been missing for the last one month.

Fareed indicated that a new co-host will be joining him soon, but meanwhile, runs the morning show solo.

“Amina Abdi will not be returning and I will be joined soon by a new co-host. She has gone to do big and better things,” he spilled.

The last time the fashion fanatic was spotted at the station was late September 2020, hosting the morning show with her co-host Fareed and that was it.

It has been barely a month since another presenter at the station walked away, with a couple more top talents exiting in the last few years including Miano Muchiri, Anta Nderu, Susan Wong, among others.

The fashionable beauty is however yet to come clean on the reports that are now going viral.

Meanwhile, her social media pages, have nothing to do with her time at Capital FM, having pulled down her posts while there, focusing more on her time at NTV’s The Trend.

Rap prowess

Unknown to many, Amina Abdi started her career in music parallel to her kick off on radio over a decade ago, but had to give it up because the corruption was just too much to bear.

Despite it all, Amina has proven she was crafted for the rap industry after her recent fine-tuned rap demo that left mouths agape.

The setting was ordinary, having her hair done and her looks sharpened before daring:

Kenyan award-winning radio and TV presenter, Amina Abdi Rabar is set to make her comeback in the music scene after going under for over a decade.

The lass has been popularly known for her mark in the radio and TV industry but very few know her past as a music artist. Having produced tracks like On Me, Swag that features Octopizzo, Paint Town Red that features rapper, K-Letta…just to mention a few.

Unfortunately, she was forced to quit music after witnessing the kind of corruption eating into the entertainment industry.

The Corruption

While starting her media journey at Capital FM, she would occasionally see artistes giving bribes, just to have their music played on air.

This she declared she was not going to do and therefore quit!

It was the bribing you had to do and because I was on radio and no one was paying me to play any of the music. I didn´t expect that. It really caught me by surprise.

Plus, if you were not well connected, you were only going to count losses.

There was lack of support and then it was very difficult to get started. They say there is a certain video type of quality that can be played on air. A good quality video, how much is it? By that time when I was releasing Paint Town Red I was told 300k and I´m making sijui 15k.

Luckily, at the time, the media industry was just establishing its foot and she therefore grabbed the opportunity and ran with it and till date, she has no regrets that she did.

It was really hard and TV and radio was picking up. I could see the potential it had, so that´s what I focused on.

However, in as much as she loves what she is doing, the mother of one disclosed that she was soon going to make her grand return into the music scene.

Allow me to introduce you to one King Kalala – the controversial young personality that has been labeled the female version of Andrew Kibe.

Born Prudence Chepkirui Tonui, better known as King Kalala became a hot topic after her contentious opinions on relationships, sexuality, broke men…you name it, struck the airwaves.

Well, just 21 years of age, Kalala is already reaping huge fruits after Kenyan media personality, Amina Abdi Rabar offered her a job on radio just because of her frankness, unmatched confidence and resilience.

Breaking the good news during her interview on The Trend live session on Wednesday night, the show host assured the Internet sensation that she will fight tooth and nail to see her join the radio industry effortlessly.

I have been calling everybody I know…and I will keep calling them…I promise you that I will get you on radio. Sijui ata utanipatia salo yako ya kwanza.

Like that wasn´t enough, Mrs Rabar opened the floor for Kalala to make her pick on the radio stations of her choice – which the Capital FM presenter would then see her grace in a few.

Kiss FM where Andrew Kibe is stationed, NRG radio and Vybez radio – based on Kwambox´s energy – were a dear Tonui´s pick.

Unfortunately though, in as much as society was quick to judge her and pick a semblance for her, turns out Kalala doesn´t like her comparison to Andrew Kibe, terming him a ´sadistic f***´.
