We need Bobby Mapesa back on the music scene

Earlier today, I was listening to Mtoto Mzuri Remix by Nonini and Bobby Mapesa and the latter’s verse in that track reignited some good memories.

I don’t remember how old I was but I’m sure I was in my early teens when I first listened to a jam by The Bugz, which was made up of Bobby Mapesa and VBO, all I remember is that it was really dope.

If you were a fan of the duo then I am sure you remember Kamoja Tu – it’s one of their earliest songs and it propelled them to greater heights.

Although VBO was also talented, I felt Bobby Mapesa’s vibe more. I don’t know how to describe it, all I know is that I could connect with his style.

Other than the fact that he had an impeccable flow, I also liked how he laid down verses in tracks. Bobby Mapesa also had some cheeky lyrics and a mkora voice. As in, you would just know that he is cheeky by listening to him.

Bobby Mapesa

All I’m saying is that I was a fan and I remember writing down the lyrics for songs like; Wezere, Naskia Utam, Stima Zimekam etc. so that I could sing along to them when the beat came on. Gold old days.

I don’t know what happened to Bobby Mapesa though. The last time I heard about him was when he teamed up with Calvo Mistari to form a group known as BC.

Although they released some songs, little has been heard about Bobby Mapesa since that and its about he came back from where he has been hiding because his fans need new music from him.

To be honest, I don’t even know where I’m going with this article. I’m just hoping that he’ll come across it, read it and do the needful. Enough said.

Meanwhile, please listen to Mtoto Mzuri Remix below and tell us what you think.

Bobby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari have teamed up with Red Acapella on ‘Deal Na Doh’ and it’s fire(Video)

Bobby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari are back with a new jam alongside talented urban folk duo Red Acapella and we are really feeling it.

The song titled Deal Na Doh talks about how people grind hard so that they can meet their daily needs and generally live a good life.

The song also rebukes friends who only want tot associate with you when you are doing well but avoid you when you run into financial difficulties.

As expected, both Bobby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari really nailed it with their lit verses in this jam. However, I must admit that the former outshone the latter. He took me back to the days of Wezere and Kamoja Tu. No kidding.

His verse goes like, “Life inakimbia ka motor, walahi ni kama naota, saa hii nina ka daughter, bado ananyonya kisha kukaokota, jina nimemwita ni India Adhiambo, saa hii sitaki diambo, sinanga mambo nimepunguza vela nimewacha kutindi, nasiaga more mahindi, sifanyi kwa muhindi, naskip tu vipindi, glory to God sheito hashindi, siku hizi siendi hata out ma wikendi, biz za ufala siku hizi sipendi, kaa si doh jo full stop ending.”

Red Acapella, a group that comprieses of Stephen Oduor alias Maga The Good Fella and Alfred Nthale alais Yabadoo The Other Fella also came through with a beautiful hook on this jam. It makes you want to listen to the song a couple of times and that’s not a bad thing.

This jam was produced by Fredrick Wanjira alias Dillie and in my opinion he did a great job. In as much as the beat would not really make you turn up like you are mad in a club, it still has a good feeling. Props to him!

‘Rarukiwa’ Nessa featuring Bobby Mapesa , Calvo Mistari

Nessa hits the waves with a jam dubbed Rarukiwa. She features Bobby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari. This is a collaboration of great minds. Rurukiwa is a swahili used to mean that one is in tatters but in this case it has a different meaning.  ‘Rarukiwa Remix’  is featured as a bonus track on the BC Debut album by the rap duo.

Bobbby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari are seen to always work together. They are always giving their best. Also, it has been a while since they released a jam and this collabo is a confirmation they are still in the industry. Their rap is amazing.

Bobby Mapesa; Rarukiwa

Rakukiwa talks about how one is confused (kuchanganyikiwa) in the ghetto world. Something that sees one do stuff they also are not aware. Am sure you relate with this song!

Production

RARUKIWA REMIX – off BC’s successful debut album was mastered at Decimal Records by Eric Musyoka. The song was produced by Dillie. Also, the video is of high standards and great effects have been used. The background is good. In addition, the audio is well done. By this I mean it is so clear and flows with the beats.

The video is so simple but tells a lot.

Presentation of Rarukiwa

Further, when we hear Bobby Mapesa and Calvo Mistari, rap music comes to our minds. The duo is know do this better and they are always at per with one another. Whichever stanza one is performing, they have given it their best.

There is this verse where calvo says, Nlirarukiwa, nikashikiliwa, zile piwa zilinifanya mbaya….. Kwani pombe ni matunda? It shows that alcohol messed one up. Just wondering, kama pombe ni matunda too!! He has used the word ‘Piwa’, did you know that it means ‘Wapi?’

Also, it is a good thing that we get to understand that the kind of language used is mainly common with the youths. Finally, the song gets a rating of 5/10.

Bobby Mapesa’s n*ked video vixens cause a stir on social media after releasing his new project

Bobby Mapesa continues to remain one of the most controversial artists we have in the Kenyan industry. Apart from his explicit lyrics and bad boy attitude the singer has now graduated to featuring naked ladies in his music videos.

His latest project dubbed ‘Ingia’ released a week ago is not the type of video you would watch with parents or kids around the house. It is quite raunchy and might get banned by the KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua when he comes across it.

I do not need to explain what ‘Ingia’ means as the ladies featured in the video clearly show the motive and inspiration behind the video which was produced at Big dreams studios by Cedric on the Beat.

The video was directed by Ricky Bekko who managed to deliver Bobby Mapesa’s suggestive x rated video:
