Chimano of Sauti Sol subtly hints at retirement

Willis Chimano, a member of the acclaimed music ensemble Sauti Sol, has resurfaced to offer an update on his current ventures.

In a playful video shared on his Instagram account, Chimano amusingly addressed his fans, giving them a glimpse into his life since Sauti Sol announced their hiatus.

The video featured Chimano operating a lawnmower, tending to his newly established garden.

“Welcome to my home garden, I’m Chimano, and this is my first day on this job and on this show. This is the garden I’m working on today, my garden. I just bought this lawnmower as a retired pop star from Kenya. I’m in a different land seeking new opportunities,” Chimano humorously remarked in the video.

Chimano’s absence from the public eye in recent months had left fans curious about his whereabouts.

In November 2023, Chimano had announced his intention to take a well-deserved break to recharge before considering his next career move, whether as a solo artist or as part of Sauti Sol.

During this hiatus, Chimano had mentioned his plans for relaxation and contemplation, expressing a desire to explore new paths and experiences.

“Chimano is going to take a little bit of a break. Maybe I have a lot to say, but for now, Chimano is going to take a break for a bit, just relaxing, being in thoughts and prayers. Honestly, there isn’t much I will be doing, just that, relaxation, maybe take a holiday,” he had shared.

His bandmate, Bien Aime, had disclosed in a separate interview that Chimano would be embarking on a holiday to Switzerland, further sparking speculation about the group’s future endeavors.

Reflecting on Sauti Sol’s hiatus and their final performance together during the Last Dance event on November 4, 2023, Chimano expressed gratitude for the band’s remarkable 17-year journey while hinting at individual pursuits for the future.

“Sauti Sol is on pause for now. We are all in a phase where we are figuring out and working towards our individual paths. I guess everybody will just have to wait and see,” Chimano remarked.

Enthusiastic presenter Mwalimu Rachel has shared the story of how Sauti Sol influenced one of their members to resign from his position as a radio presenter.

In the early days before the band gained widespread recognition, Willis Chimano, a member of Sauti Sol, worked as a radio presenter at Homeboyz Radio.

Chimano, who openly identified as gay, co-hosted a show with Mwalimu Rachel and singer Dela Maranga.

According to comedian Mwalimu Rachel, Chimano had become the favorite of the radio station boss, John Rabar, due to his captivating voice and eloquence.

Just when it seemed like Chimano would continue to thrive on the radio, Sauti Sol compelled him to step down.

“Chimano was the golden boy of Homeboyz Radio because of his golden voice. He would talk on the mic and you fall in love; our boss loved him,” recounted Mwalimu Rachel.

However, one day, Chimano showed up at work and informed his colleagues and the boss that he was resigning.

“He said he was in a band of four people, and his band told him to choose between radio and them, and he chose music.”

Despite the encouragement from Mwalimu Rachel and other colleagues to stay, Chimano was resolute.

“We told him not to do it, but Chimano said he had to follow his heart. One month later, while watching The Beat, we saw Chimano singing Lazizi on TV. He became big from there; it was such a gamble, and it paid off,” added Mwalimu Rachel.

Sauti Sol’s Chimano is one of those guys you’re positive would make a good parent. It’s in his nature, he just oozes that cool parent vibe and although he is part of the LGBTQ community – this doesn’t mean he cannot have kids of his own. Actually a mixed breed considering the fact that his boyfriend is white.

Well, if you’ve been wondering whether Chimano has plans to have kids in future then allow me to answer this…there’s a possibility. More of like he wants to but hasn’t really decided whether it’s a yes or no. He made this known during an interview at the launch of the group’s new product, Sol Kids; where he was asked on whether he will have kids or not – to who he responded;

Well, don’t get him wrong at least this wasn’t a definite no meaning, there’s hope. However unlike most people who blindly walk into parenthood, Chimano says for him kids are not a badge of honor; but a great responsibility that someone needs to be mentally ready for.

When I am in a situation that may allow me to but for now, no. For now, I am still growing. Having kids for me isn’t a badge of honour, cause having a kid is a big responsibility. It’s a big deal. It’s something that will happen if it’s ever going to happen.”

Sauti Sol’s Chimano already came out as a gay man, who is proud of his feelings and the person he is. His decision of coming out was however not an easy one especially since the LGBTQ community is still yet to be accepted in the African culture but when it comes to Chimano – let’s just say it is what it is.

Just recently he dropped his first project as a solo artist and judging from the video’s content; all I know is that Chimano is a small princess if not a queen deep down inside.

His video was however received with a lot of mixed feelings from fans; but the numbers speak massive as he is heading for half a million in just 6 days (not bought views btw.) Anyway speaking about his sexuality recently, Chimano said;

Sauti Sol’s Chimano is a sweetheart to many and now that his sexuality is no longer a topic of discussion; the young man continues to keep us entertained on social media.

So far it is no secret that he is also a fashion killer always blessing fans with nothing but fine looks on IG. His latest photo where he stepped out in white pants – paired with a silk like print shirt has left many ladies wishing they could have a piece of him!

This is after a few female fans noticed that the fella is ‘loaded’ in terms of the huge bulge protruding from his crouch!

Well, looking at the photo, it’s obvious to see that indeed Chimano is a true Luhya – but unfortunately for the ladies; the Sauti Sol singer already has a boyfriend!

Chimano’s sexuality is no longer a mystery. I mean we all now know he likes fellow men and for some reason, those hating him will have to either have to deal with it; or keep their opinions to themselves! It’s 2020 a year that is teaching people to focus on themselves and not others!

Anyway, for awhile now many couldn’t understand why Chimano likes to wear nail polish, always stepping in weird outfits and most of all why he seemed so in touch with his feminine side!

Well, the question was finally answered just a few hours ago! Yes, Chimano has a boyfriend and remains proud of him despite the criticism from a few character here and there!

Chimano has every reason to be proud of himself! This is because it took a lot of guts to come out – especially on social media knowing very well he was throwing himself at angry netizens; ready to attack and criticize anything!

Of course his sexuality has been a hot topic for years now! For some reason many assumed that Chimano was just shy to introduce his woman on social media; but what they didn’t know is that he was different and aware that society wouldn’t just embrace him without judging the person he truly is!

Howeve on Tuesday, 18 August the fella finally decided to introduce his handsome Caucasian boyfriend as seen on a photo making rounds on social media.

Although the photo was not captioned to confirm whether he is bae, it’s easy to tell that this was a coupled up photo as the other Sauti Sol members are seen embracing their wives on the photo!

The photo has however sparked mixed reactions from fans on Social Media. There are those who have congratulated the young man for being himself; while Kamati ya roho chafu has not only shamed Chimano but continue to abuse him on social media.

Seeing the harsh comments and criticism from fans; Chimano has now decided to respond with a simple tweet that angered his haters more. He went on to write;

Singer Chimano has taken a while before introducing the love of his life to his social media fans.

Mostly it’s because this was to protect himself from the insensitive feed back he would have received from fans on his social media pages. Well, being part of the LGBT means receiving criticism from the community who are yet to accept that this has now become a new normal in our society.

Anyway after suspecting that he plays for the same team, singer Chimano has confirmed the alleged rumors with a photo of him and his Caucasian boyfriend.

From the photo above it’s evident to see that Chimano has finally come out; and after years of trying to hide the real him – he can now live peacefully knowing he owes no one any explanation.

Miss Mandy speaks on fighting depression, hitting the gym and losing kilos: Last year was a lot for me

In a long post, Capital FM presenter Miss Mandy has come out to share how she was one depressed lady while trying to lose weight. She recently embarked on a weight loss journey and has lost a few kilograms.

Here’s her encouraging post:

“It’s transformation tuesday!!! May 2017 vs June 2018! This is a temporary post for a number of reasons. After a month of working out, i didn’t ‘see’ any results and that bothered me just like everyone else who is starting their fitness journey. Once the first month was up, life came at me so hard i battled a mini depression.

For 3 weeks, i locked myself in my house, i cried, drank & barely ate. If i had to leave the house i would put on a ‘brave’ face,” she wrote in part. As i wallowed in my dark days, each day Nancie mwai would call me and apart from checking up on me she would say ‘don’t you think if you went to the gym you’ll feel better?’ i would always answer no. For those 3 weeks, the gym was the last place on my mind. I continued being in my shitty cycle. After the 3 weeks were up, i woke up one morning and said enough. I gave myself a major pep talk telling myself i can not quit on me and on that same day i went to the gym.

 

 

 I vowed to commit to myself as much as life was going according to ‘plan’. See, i’ve never shared this because this is me being at my most vulnerable and i know the business i’m in loves to tear people over stuff like this. The trolls usually have a field day. Im usually a very private about my personal life because that’s my form of self-care. I’ve contemplated time and time again about sharing this post however after a year of being my own cheerleader and overcoming what i went through i knew i could share and be free.

 

I’m constantly asked to share what motivates me and if i’m being honest, i don’t have many pointers. I am my own motivation, i can not quit on myself, i love to show off my body to myself, it makes me feel really good & lastly fitness has instilled discipline.

Every day i want to be the best version of myself because, at the end of the day, nobody’s got me like me. Last year was a lot for me & im so glad i overcame the hump.

Stella Nyanzi has confessed that Sauti Sol’s Chimano is driving her crazy. The controversial activist had long declared that Sauti Sol is her favorite music group.

Mention the name ‘Stella Nyanzi’ in Uganda and president Museveni will start sweating. The former Makerere University lecturer is the leading voice for freedom in Uganda.

Stella Nyanzi has clashed with Museveni’s government multiple times. She is currently being prosecuted for referring president Museveni ‘a pair of buttocks’ and his wife Janet as ’empty-brained’ on her posts on Facebook.

Chimano has long been rumored to be gay; recent photo of the Sauti Sol member made two ladies to make homosexual comment about him which didn’t go down well with Bien.

Two homophobes launched scathing attack on Sauti Sol’s Chimano and Bien was quick to defend him with zeal. The quartet faced similar homophobic attack in December 2015 when they rocked mosquito net-like outfit.

This time round it wasn’t a crazy costume that made homophobes pull out their guns, Chimano’s painted nails was what made two ladies harass the poor chap.

Bien shared a photo which was taken during baby shower for Annabel Onyango. The fashion personality is married to Sauti Sol’s manager Marek Fuchs.

In the photo, Bien had bent over as Annabel Onyango fondled his behinds, while Chimano showed off his hands in celeb-ish style.

The photo drew interesting comments but two homophobes got on Bien’s nerves and he lost his cool. Comments by a certain hawa_the_firstlady and ambukadorice totally pissed off Bien.
