Soni Metheu to be buried in Eldoret, family of the former CNN journalist pays emotional tribute

The family of Kenyan journalist Soni Methu, the former host of CNN’s “Inside Africa,” has released an emotional tribute.

Her younger sister Faith Methu, said that Soni died in Diani hotel, Kwale County last Thursday evening after complaining of stomach pains then collapsed. The cause of death remains unknown.

She was 35 years old.

Her family released a tribute and also on the funeral plans.

“Our dearly departed Soni, may the winds of heaven, blow softly and whisper in your ear, just how much we love you. And wish that you were here.

In the three days since Soni passed, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring love for her, and of support for us. Our family is devastated, and we know so many others share our pain. Soni touched many lives and brought beauty, light and love to those she touched, at home and globally. In coming days we will finalise plans for her farewell.”

Plans

The family also made an announcement on the ongoing funeral plans.

“To this end, the family has planned to hold for her a farewell and celebration of her life on the 23rd April, 2019 at their home in Eldoret, Kenya where she shall be laid to rest. We hope to hold a wake in Diani and in Nairobi respectively before then.”

They concluded the tribute with a poem.

“Soni, we mourn you. We are pained. We celebrate you. We appreciate the privilege of your light in our Iives. We take comfort knowing you are now at peace. We love you. Forever in Light and Love. A people’s person.”
