Top female DJ, Pierra Makena reveals how she went into depression, broke, with no babby daddy and unemployed

Kenya´s top female DJ, Pierra Makena reveals she was depressed, broke, all alone and unemployed, soon after giving birth.

In an exclusive interview with Parents Magazine, the disk jockey guru disclosed that her life was all crumbled up soon after having daughter, Ricca.

I got depressed after giving birth to Ricca.

My current bank account was at zero.

Additionally, she had two young babies to bring up, including her company which had just been born.

And all she could depend on was her savings which at one point would run out anyway.

My company was young and wasn´t bringing in any money.

I couldn´t deejay as much plus I had resigned from a well-paying job.

I started surviving on my savings.

Unfortunately, she had just parted ways with her baby daddy before she was made aware of her pregnancy state.

It proved hard for her to even contact Ricca´s father:

I also didn´t want to call the baby daddy for support.

The worst part is how fast friends took off after her life seemed to be going south.

According to the Female DJ, family was the only firm and unconditional support she had at the time.

Her situation got so bad, she could no longer afford to pay rent and was therefore forced to move in with her sister.

I lost friends but I thank God for my family who supported me.

Even when I hit rock bottom and during depressive episodes, I kept telling myself that I would rise again.

I thank God for my family and a few friends who stuck by me.

For Makena, life had showed her the worst, she never thought Ricca would grow to be who she is now, raised single -handedly.

She is proud every time she looks back and continues to soldier on.
