Eko Dydda squandered a great opportunity for a comeback

I guess Eko Dydda has never heard of the saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” because if he had, he would have used his recently terrible, horrible situation for the better.

For those of you who just emerged from under a rock, I am referring to the fact that he was arrested by the Kenya police during the earlier days of the Covid19 quarantine. You see, when the president of our shithole nation, first declared the lockdown, a lot of Kenyans were caught off-guard as Uhuru did what he has done so often and failed to take ordinary Kenyans into account. Eko Dydda reportedly fell afoul of the lockdown law when he was forced by circumstances to do a medicine run for his wife who needed neuro care. The car he was rolling in developed a problem and he got stuck. Given just how knuckleheaded our police force is, rather than empathize with him, they attempted to extort a bribe and when he didn’t play along, they arrested him and dumped him in a cell.

Whatever the case may be, Eko Dydda got to witness the hell that is Coronavirus quarantine. He even had his cellphone snatched from him when Citizen TV reached out to him for an interview (do you even lift bro?) making his ordeal all the more visceral for those of us who experienced it through him.

This would have been the perfect opportunity for a comeback. he could have catapulted his career forward as he was the media and people’s darling. Eko Dydda was the icon of government heavy-handedness. He documented what it is like for a man fighting to fend for his family has to deal with when he ends up in police custody then in one of those quarantine centres.

Eko Dydda

Can you imagine what it would have been like for Eko Dydda to release music that is centred around how the government is dealing with Covid19? Can you imagine what it would have been like for his career had Eko Dydda transformed himself into an actual activist artist? He could have jumped through the hoops, gotten accreditation and run a documentary on how Covid19 is infecting the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

If you look at it from that angle, you realized Eko Dydda missed a golden opportunity to kick start a megastar level career.

Eko Dydda the king gives the best in ‘Iwake’

Eko Dydda is back with a super lit jam dubbed Iwake. The Kenyan artiste has taken it slow in music leaving his fans wondering what he has been up to.

As many would say that Eko Dydda has finally remembered his YouTube password, I’d say he is just the old Eko. His new tune Iwake is all about lighting fire for Jesus. This is a confirmation he is still taking the gospel seriously.

In the Iwake video, Eko Dydda has decided to use a crowd as his dance team just like the new generation artistes are doing. He appears to be a newly ignited signer and with a revived mission.

To add on, the singer did a single over a year ago with the latest being a collabo over two months ago. Also, it is good to note that in this new single, he has come back with bhang and enough energy.

Iwake is all about lighting Christ’s fire in us

The way he has done his lyrics is just the old Eko Dydda but with a new title. I know you might be wondering what I mean but its simply his style still remains.

In addition, he has mastered his lyrical prowess and he is still going far. The jam which has been delivered in today’s generation style still gives hopes to the hopeless and it is clear that talent remains.

Moto wa Yesu na Iwake. Imagine such a line at a time when one is down? This will probably heal one’s soul. It is just so lit.

As much as we try to focus on the lyrics, Eko Dydda has delivered the Iwake video in style, making it unique and just so natural.

Like the place where he running up the stairs and the graphics used. This is just so real and amazing. He is one person that I believe new generation should learn from.

Eko Dydda has it right when it comes to music. In conclusion, Iwake gets a rating of 6/10.

Eko Dydda teams up with newby Piyo to bring us “Rada”

Eko Dydda started off this year on a rather rocky path. This was after the scandalous break up with the mother of his children. Relationships!! That’s just about it.

Anyhow, that did not mark the end of his music career of the gospel music.  Eko Dydda has teamed up with a new face in the industry, Piyo, and brought us a new jam dubbed “Rada”.

The award winning gospel rapper has clearly not brought his A-game.

Rada

From the title of the song you wouldn’t clearly get the message that it was intended. For a leighman Rada is a sheng word that means whats up.

Further as you listen to the song Piyo starts of with some sense of rap that cannot even be interpreted easily. I mean not even Kartelo can-he is the sheng master.

I wold say the lyrical break down for this song was not creatively done or rather thought out.

Eko Dydda being the longest player in this scene should have considered that. Especially for a gospel song this is way below per.

Not hating on Piyo, clearly he is a talent to watch out for but for this song this is  a big flop.

Another thing, is the kind of set up use too is not as catchy thus the reason I say that Eko being a house hold name should have done better.

Considering  this song was to serve as a redeeming power for him then I believe this did not work.

Production

On the good side we must give it to the video editor. For the quality, they did a good job especially doing the beat by beat visual effect.

The color transitions have worked well for the song.

But we also needed to get the message from the first words. I hope am clear on that.

The Song was directed by Didy and the audio  done by Krispha.

For rating purposes unfortunately I will give this a 5/10. Watch and tell us what you think.
