Tables turn! Emmy Kosgei denies publicly embarrassing Kalenjin men

Celebrated Kenyan gospel singer, Emmy Kosgei has trashed reports of having ashamed and embarrassed the Kalenjin men, early last week.

The gospel icon was quoted saying no Kalenjin man ever came to seek her hand in marriage probably because most of them are introverted.

She felt men from her community needed to brave up when asking a girl out and never shy away from professing their love for a girl they adore because time might eventually run out.

Popular vernacular gospel artiste, Emmy Kosgei

Defense

However, soon after the news went viral and men from the Kenyan community came out lashing at her, she responded by saying never in her right mind would she ever bash her own.

During a Live Facebook interview, the ‘Taunet Nelel’ hitmaker expressed:

I think I have represented my community very well, locally and internationally to take the flag of Kalenjin culture and music. It shows how much I appreciate my people and what I do.

Emmy Kosgei

Further evidencing the fact that her dad is a very well respected elder of the Kalenjin community and she is therefore well-schooled in that capacity.

Additionally admitting that her 16-year public life taught her better than belittle another person, let alone her own people.

Also being a daughter of a very great and respected leader in Kalenjin community, that would actually tell my upbringing and I am well polished. And having been on public life for over 16 years now, I believe I can never go on a Live feed or interview and talk words that demean a community, leave alone my own tribe. I mean, even Kenyans at large, I can never do that.

Bashing the news as false while urging fans and the Kenyan mass at large to first establish facts before believing reports.

Recording and performing artist, Emmy Kosgei

However, she articulated that what she said was targeted at having a positive impact and not to portray her people badly.

It’s unethical and I would urge my fans, followers and my brothers to just ignore and not be part of the gutter press and people that seek for selfish and ill motives. Let’s stay together and seek to know the facts. I think issues we were discussing were positive issues towards ourselves, my fans and the community.

Affirming:

I never said such words, I am a Christian and I am a Pastor’s kid. I could never mention such words.

The song titled Champion, also pays homage to other Kenyan athletes who have flown Kenya’s flag high in past races that were held inside and outside the country.

In the song, Emmy describes them as people who bring love and joy to the universe adding that they have also played a big part in uniting people across the world.

This jam is such a beautiful composition and in my opinion it couldn’t have come at a better time seeing as Mashujaa Day – the day we’ve set aside to celebrate our heroes – is around the corner.

The other thing that struck me about this song was how Emmy switches from her native Kalenjin language to English and vice verse. Although I could not understand the former, I still felt like it was a vibe.

Her vocals were also dope. She this beautiful coarse voice that I can’t get enough of. The beat and instrumentation on this jam was also on point. Generally speaking, it is a dope song that might just get good traction.

Listen to Champion below and tell us what you think.

Emmy Kosgei: I didn’t get married just because I wanted to have kids

Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei has revealed why she has no kids despite being in a marriage for almost 5 years now.

According to the singer who is married to Anselm Madubuko, she didn’t do it because she wanted a partner who will give her kids but rather for connection. The gospel artiste and the Nigerian tycoon apostle exchanged vows in a traditional Nigerian wedding.

“I didn’t get married just because I wanted to have kids. Relationships are about unions and destinies. If you are attached to the wrong person, it can affect your destiny permanently. I’m also very busy but yes, I do hope to have my own children one day,” She told Parents Magazine.

Step-children

Madubuko has two children, Sandra and Velma, from a previous marriage, who Emmy embraced as her own, when the two tied the knot.

“My step-children respect me and call me mum. I don’t take it for granted,” She disclosed.

The first Madubuko daughter Velma was married in 2012, the year her mother and first wife of the pastor Connie Madubuko passed on. She welcomed a baby in May 2015, making Apostle Madubuko a grandfather and Emmy a grandmother to the pretty baby girl.

“He encouraged me to sell CDs at State House” Emmy Kosgei narrates how retired president Kibaki changed her life forever

Emmy Kosgei breakthrough came after she performed at the the promulgation of the new constitution way back in 2010. But the journey to the top was not easy.

Speaking during an interview with the Nairobian, Emmy revealed Esther Wahome literally pushed her to record a song, even threatened to end their friendship if she didn’t record a song.

“My path changed when I met Esther Wahome and became her backup singer. She encouraged me to record, but I refused at first. I was very scared. She kept on encouraging and pushing me, even threatening to end our friendship at one point!” Said Emmy Kosgei.

Kalenjins don’t sing

The songbirds reveals she faced major hurdles to get her songs played by the media, she says she was ethnically profiled by a presenter who told her Kalenjins don’t sing.

“When I finished recording ‘Katau Banda,’ I called one radio personality and asked if they could play my music. He bluntly told me they could not play any vernacular music. He said that he thought Kalenjins were only good at athletics and wondered why I was singing. I asked him to listen to my music before making a judgment, but he refused. From that day, I decided never to approach the media to play my songs,” Emmy narrated.

Kibaki’s help

Emmy attributes her breakthrough to retired president Mwai Kibaki. The singer reveals that Kibaki encouraged her to sell her CDs at State House when she was invited there after a thrilling performance at the promulgation of the constitution at Uhuru Park.

“I was never that connected. I just got a call from State House in 2010. It was like a dream. Watching everyone dancing and screaming to my music was encouraging. Lucy Kibaki was dancing to my music. We were then invited to the State House garden party, where Kibaki encouraged me to sell my CDs at the dais. From that day, my career rose to a new level. I started getting phone calls from embassies and other state function. It’s been a blessed journey.”

Emmy Kosgei: My husband wants me in tight cloths

Singer Emmy Kosgei is a gospel singer who has usually maintained her image of long colorful dresses. Her husband, Anselm Madubuko however, prefers her wearing body hugging attires.

Speaking to Parent’s Magazine about her stage dress code, Emmy said “It’s not like I’m hiding anything, it’s just when I am singing in front of people I am very cautious of how I dress and I don’t want anything to take away the attention from my performance. Sometimes, the stage is high and if you wear short clothes you can disorganize the audience.”

Hubby’s request

She went to add that in Lagos with her husband, she’s goes totally the opposite way.

“In Lagos, I wear very fitting clothes because that is what my husband likes. But when I’m doing concerts I like flowing clothes because I am comfortable, I am free. I can lift my legs, I can jump and it’s still decent to everybody.”

Emmy Kosgei: In Lagos I wear very fitting clothes because my husband likes it that way

Nigerian apostle Anselm Madubuko likes his wife Emmy Kosgei in short and fitting clothes. The Kenyan singer however dresses differently depending on the occasion.

Anselm Madubuko may be old but he was refined taste for fashion. This was evident as Emmy Kosgei revealed the type of dressing her husband loves.

Speaking during an interview with Parent Magazine, Emmy Kosgei said that her Nigerian husband like her to wear very fitting clothes.

“In Lagos I wear very fitting clothes because thats what my husband likes. But when I’m doing concerts I like flowing clothes because that’s what I’m comfortable with. I’m free hata niki-sweat huwezijua and I can lift my leg and Jump up and its descent to everybody,” said Emmy Kosgei.

Dress with a purpose

Emmy further says that she is very conscious of how she dresses. She explains that she can’t wear short and fitting clothes while she’s performing because she would distract her audience.

“I’m very conscious of how I dress and I don’t want anything to take away my attention because nikivaa nguo fupi ama fitting when I want to sing people are looking at me and I feel like they’re looking at my hips or my legs. So ukivaa nguo fupi, you disorganize your audience,” said Emmy.

Back when Emmy Kosgei was just another struggling young lady

Most of our local celebrities who have made it in life had a humble beginning. Not many understand the struggle; but the likes of Emmy Kosgei, Nameless and many others really worked hard to get to the top.

Thanks to a new photo shared by gospel singer Mbuvi. We now have the perfect proof to show how Emmy kosgei looked before the money and fame.

Well, life wasn’t really easy for the singer who totally looks ashy in the flash back photo. Back then, she was a dark skin beauty but after getting married to a Nigerian pastor; the singer seems to have changed for the better.

Emmy upgrades

Looking at the photo above and the new photos shared by Ms Kosgei, there is no doubt that indeed money is everything!

Life has really been good to her now that the struggle is over.

“Young men come with their own problems” Emmy Kosgei reveals why she chose to marry an old man

Emmy Kosgei has made it clear that young men are not her cup of tea. This after Cyprian Nyakundi bashed her for marrying an old Nigerian apostle.

Nyakundi claimed that Emmy Kosgei suffers from daddy issues. He explains that women who fall for old men try to compensate for their father’s absence in their lives by falling in love with old men.

The blogger’s onslaught on the gospel singer sparked uproar from all quarters. Radio Citizen presenter Syombua Mwele Osiany sent a plea to Nyakundi after he bashed Emmy Kosgei.

Young men have their own problems

Emmy Kosgei says she doesn’t regret a minute her decision to get married to Anselm Madubuko. She said during an interview on K24 that she could not marry a young man even if she’s divorced.

“No way (I can’t marry a younger man if I divorce). They come with their own problems and where I have gone now (high) is a big gap ooh…My husband has got me, he loves me,” Emmy Kosgei said during an interview on Talk Central.

The gospel songbird also revealed that single mothers at her husband’s church were also irked when Madubuko chose her over them.

“You know women, pastor akiwa single, they have their eyes set on him. One Sunday he announced to the congregation that ‘All of you are my spiritual children, I cannot pick from my flock it is bad. I will be taking a wife from Kenya.’ The single girls left but some have come back as they realized that I’m just this simple Kenyan girl,” said Emmy Kosgei.

Internet reacts angrily to court sentencing of Emmy Kosgei’s brother who killed a man

Emmy Kosgei’s brother Meshack Kipkpoech received a lighter sentence despite Nakuru court finding him guilty of killing a man.
Meshack Kipkpoech was found guilty of hitting and killing Andrew Cheruiyot in a 2008 road accident along Mogotio-Marigat road in Baringo.

Relative tries to hide Meshack Kipkpoech’s face when he appeared in court

Emmy Kosgei’s brother was sentenced to seven days civil jail by Nakuru Principal Magistrate in December 2017. The prison sentence was however scrapped after a consent with the victim’s family.CompensationThe court ordered Meshack to pay the victim’s mother Kes 954,000 as compensation. Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo directed that the amount be paid to Mrs Kotete Chebet within 10 days.Netizens were however offended by the lighter sentence Meshack received. Most people argued that the punishment ought to be more severe.

Some people even claim Meshack received a lighter sentence because he has ‘connections’. Those who subscribe to this school of thought claim any ordinary citizen would have received a long prison sentence if they were caught in similar situation as Meshack’s.

Emmy Kosgei’s latest prayer will make ‘husband snatchers’ fast and pray as they repent!

Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei looks happy in her marriage. She may have not been blessed with a child for now but all seems just fine. The singer also enjoys sharing photos hanging out with her husband through her social media pages.

Her latest post shared on Instagram has left fans supporting her and at the same time also raising a few eyebrows. Could there be trouble in paradise? Emmy Kosgei wrote saying:

However, I understand that this is not the first time she is giving marriage advice on social media. Having been raised in a Christian family the singer knows one or two things about having a ‘perfect’ marriage.

But since she is now wishing death on those committing sin, could this mean that the statement was aimed at someone she knows?

Emmy Kosgei’s marriage

She has been married for about 5 years now and has been supporting her husband’s ministry all through. We are however not sure whether the two decided not to have children or it happened naturally.

The singer who seems to have joined her husband’s ministry also went on to reveal how much she loves her husband by writing;

I love you more #nkem

Though the couple has not been blessed with a child, they continue to love each other even more judging from the posts shared on their social media pages.

Never seen before photo of Emmy Kosgei kissing her husband, now this is adorable!

Love is beautiful, it knows no age and has no boundaries. For those who have experienced it know what I am talking about and this is why Emmy Kosgei could not help but share a photo locking lips with her husband.

The Kenyan singer now based in Nigeria has always been open about how much she adores her husband. Her recent photo however did not need a catchy or rather emotional caption to express how happy she is.

And though the couple has not yet convinced – they continue to enjoy each other’s company as they run their run their ministry in Nigeria.

Farewell to Emmy Kosgei’s mother, with send-off fit for a queen (Photos)

Family and friends came out in their hundreds to say a sad farewell to Emmy Kosgei’s mother-in-law, Princess Phyline Ayozie Madubuko (née Njemanze) who was finally laid to rest in Anambra State, Nigeria a day ago as revealed by the Kenyan gospel singer.

Emmy Kosgei shared a few photos from the ceremony and in one she revealed that her family in Nigeria had gathered to send off their great mother who passed on a while ago. She wrote saying,

Our great mother #princesNdaphillinemadubuko send off .. was a success all glory to to God for seeing us through! Thanks family for prayers and support

From the photos one can easily tell that this was more of a celebration as they all looked happy and others seen taking selfies as they remembered the life the lady lived and all the love they all shared.

However her husband Anselm Maubuko, seemed affected by the death of his mother as he wrote to say,

“‘Rest In Peace, my beloved mother… O death where is your sting? O grave where is your victory? It is well with my soul!”

However…death is something all of us will have to face when that time comes. Our heartfelt condolences to Emmy Kosgei family.

Anyway, he also happens to have millions of followers and fans on Instagram who love to get a glimpse into his expensive lifestyles. Most of the snaps on his gram capture their lifestyle at home and outside the country. It also shows fans and followers what the rich kids love to do, eat or wear.
