When I look at this picture, I am overwhelmed with emotion. It reminds me of a time in my life when I was a miserable little human, a disheveled young girl with little hopes of making it in life.. But weirdly most of the times so happy inside.
Uniform
Further talking of uniform struggles, that were eventually overcome.
Like other girls my age in the area, I had short hair because it was easy to maintain. I had one school uniform, two blouses and one sweater. I remember my auntie Nduku washing our uniform mid-week because it was the only set we had and she was still is a clean freak. Thankfully it dried quickly because of the ever scorching sun.
Like it happened to most generations, Nana´s case is typical:
My mom(who I had no idea was my mom until later-story for another day)deliberately bought me an oversize uniform to take me through the remaining years of primary school. My green sweater, had patches on the elbows, of different colours and patterns. It looked like a tie and dye gone wrong.
Bare feet
However, days when donning shoes to school was a luxury, the terrain did zero justice to her feet.
My skin (Esp my legs)were cracked and had visible scales. I had no shoes. I remember now, how desperately I wanted shoes, because of how the terrain had badly ravaged the soles of my feet. Thankfully I had no cracked heels like most of those women in the village.
Looking back, she embraces her past with humor:
Cracks so deep, so intense, that they looked like tributaries of a dried river. We often joked,’Kiangai! Ena mialíka yiania Ing’olo’ meaning the cracks were deep enough for the 5 shilling coin that had 7 sides.

Anyway,the journey from school was so grueling, because the ground was intensely hot due to the heat from blazing sun. It made me an athlete by default, running back home every evening to escape the effects of the sun. I would run so fast under the few surviving trees,rest my feet abit because Jesus! The Soil was on FIRE ???? I would watch the soil as steam blew off from it(Mirage).

Churchill show comedian, MCA Tricky has called out a local publication for giving false reports of his tragic road accident, along with Rue Baby.
A story on a local online publication, that even gave details of the accident scene, citing traffic police as the source of information.
The story reads in part:
Comedian, MCA Tricky, Rue Baby and three others were involved in a grizzly car crash in Kikopey according to a report from the traffic police. The report states that the comedian was driving at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and rolled down several times.

During the Pilsner Mfalme 2010 edition, DJ Mo sought to participate following gospel DJ Krowbar´s win, the previous year.
In 2010, I auditioned and got into that year´s edition of the competition. I got through the quarters in Nanyuki, the semis, and I made it to Carnivore for the finals. I used to sleep at the office deejaying and when the finals came, it was only me and DJ Nelly. Mind you, they had said that they wanted to push the beer brand.
Despite being a gospel deejay in a competition swarmed by secular DJs, he made it to the top through sweat and hard work, but left with only one to floor.

Recuperating Kenyan DJ Evolve´s health condition might still be unstable following reports from his father, John Orinda.
During an interview with K24 on Thursday night, the entertainer´s dad spoke of a surgery the DJ was to undergo this week, but doctors pushed it to Tuesday, February 4.
Mr Orinda further disclosed that the bullet affected his spinal cord and due to his critical condition, doctors advised that he goes under the knife next week.
His spinal cord was badly affected. On Tuesday, January 28, he was scheduled for a surgical operation, but the doctors said he wasn´t in good shape to undergo the exercise. He is still in a critical condition and he has never spoken for the last four days but we hope for the best.

I thank Babu Owino for taking my son to Nairobi Hospital. I think he would have died had he taken him to a medical facility with limited equipment. So far, he has paid Ksh 800,000 for Felix´s treatment.

The Embakasi East MP was released on a Ksh 10 Million cash bail that has sparked heated debate among Kenyans.

We are going for a revision. We agreed as ODPP and we have also written to the JSC. I cannot fathom it. First of all, I have never heard of bail terms that you are asked to pay in installments.
Secondly, my understanding once you pay the bail it goes to the exchequer. How will we be able to access the money to go and pay the injured party. It is really unacceptable, we want to exhaust all channels. This is an anomaly in my opinion.
