Vanessa Chettle’s baby girl, Anna is now one month old as she was welcomed two days to Valentine’s Day. Her birth was however what refer to as a miracle since Vanessa Chettle managed to push and give birth all alone in the house.

Journalist Evelyn Simaloi narrates her emotional journey after learning she had HIV, how it led to her rape

Journalist Evelyn Simaloi, in a recent interview, shared her emotional journey as a person living with HIV after contracting the disease in 1999. Simaloi narrated how she got infected by her friends ex-boyfriend who she fell for but didn’t mention to her that she was infected.

In the interview which was published by The Nairobian, she said that she only learnt she had HIV/AIDS after applying for a job which needed blood tests and they came back positive. She also said that both the man and her friend knew they had the disease but failed to mention to her.

Here is her story:

“A man I was living with infected me. I was introduced to him by my best friend who was dating him. I did not have anywhere to go, so she took me there to work (for him) as a house help.

“I was desperate and I needed money. A few months later, he started showing interest in me and I could not say no. Before I knew it, he had broken up with my best friend.

“She told me that I would regret it, but I dismissed it as just jealousy. In retrospect, however, I suspect she must have known about his status since their baby died two weeks after birth,” Said Simaloi.

She added:

 

“I had applied for a job at a restaurant and they required my health records. I was confident because I thought they were testing for pregnancy or drugs.

“Two weeks later, when the tests came back, I was told I was positive. Actually, the doctor just told me that I had aids and that I only had five years to live. Those days, medication was very expensive. 

“He admitted to having infected me because he was in love with me. He claimed that he was afraid i would leave him. I left him and went to live with his cousin who introduced me to hood rats. Everyone kept hitting on me and I became angry and bitter with men.

“I would insult them and move on because i did not want to disclose my status. Unfortunately, that’s how I ended up being raped. One evening, I was very high and he offered to escort me home. On the way, he overpowered and raped me.”

 

 

 

Ted Josiah pens emotional letter to his late wife

Veteran producer Tedd Josiah lost his wife,  Regina Katar, last year after complication that resulted from child birth. She past away just three months after giving birth to their daughter Jameela.

Tedd said that his wife’s death was devastating and even left him confused.

“Words cannot express my confusion, loss and pain.” he said in an interview shortly after the death of his wife.

Tedd has penned an emotional letter to her now that it’s almost half an year since she passed away and wished her a happy mother’s day. It would have been her first.

Our mommy may not be hear with us to celebrate ? her 1st Mother’s Day with Jay Jay, something I really wanted her to do. For those who didn’t know about her mum, Gloria Muliro reveals that she passed on 29 years leaving her behind with her siblings to look after.

The information was apparently leaked by one of his  nosy neighbor who reported the matter to one local tabloid. Being an interesting story, the news spread like wild fire; leaving people questioning whether Diana Marua was involved with other people while still with Bahati.

Former Citizen TV’s news anchor Janet Mbugua is with child! The mum of one revealed the good news this past weekend while on an interview on the Trend with Amina Abdi.

All excited, the soon mum to be couldn’t help but show off her baby bump now that she is almost done with the first trimester. In  video shared on her Instagram page Janet Mbugua reveals that this pregnancy has been nothing but a challenge for her due the morning sickness.

Anyway, her 2 year old son baby Huru will soon be getting a play mate as Janet Mbugua is set to welcome her baby around October.

Shock on former NTV boss Linus Kaikai as government allegedly blocks him from getting a new job

Former Nation Media Group General Manager Linus Kaikai will have to wait a bit longer to get a new job after resigning.

Word has it that the government has blocked his new appointment as the Chief Operations Officer at Royal Media Services fearing that he might cause more havoc after getting an even more influential position.

Not getting the job

According to Business Today who broke the story, Kaikai’s appointment has been shelved after The State found cleaver ways to stop the appointment.

“State House was furious that Kaikai was getting even a more influential position in a big media house even after he took part in what was clearly a treasonable affair. But they knew SK Macharia would be difficult to convince following the shutdown of Citizen TV and Inooro TV that saw him move to court seeking compensation. So they devised a way of convincing his wife who as vice chair runs the media house’s day to day affairs,” a source who chose not to be named told BT.

It’s also alleged that, State House had a hand in Kaikai’s exit from NMG, after he failed to obey orders not to live stream Raila’s mock inauguration.

The controversial singer sent a post on Instagram alerting all her clients and associates saying that she has changed her business line. She was shooting an Instalive video when it all happened.

George Ikua celebrates his 10th wedding anniversary to his late wife, Janet Ikua

George Ikua is still slowly learning to accept that his wife Janet Ikua is no more. It has since been 11 months since she passed on but he is proving to be quite strong for their 2 kids.

Just the other day, he celebrated 10 years of his marriage to his late wife despite her not being there to mark the special day with him.

The two got married on March 7th 2008 and This being a year that they would have turned 10 years together; George Ikua could not hold back from remembering his wife in the best possible way.

In his post, George Ikua encouraged couples to love and explore together as everyone is capable of becoming a widow or widower at any given time. He went on to advice them saying;

Create memories, travel by bus, cook her dinner, plant a tree, sing karaoke, walk in the sunset..whatever it is, this is all you will be left with when its all said and done.

He went on to add saying;

As casually as we say in sickness and in health a time a day is coming when you have to be their anchor when their body is broken.

The late media personality passed died on 1st April after battling with cancer for years.

She was a true hero who inspired many and till date her legacy is still remembered by her fans!

Women’s Day vibes! Adelle: I wanted to be recognized as one of the best

As women across the globe celebrate Women’s Day, Radio presenter Adelle Onyango is glad she was named among the 100 influential women in Africa by OkayAfrica.

The fete comes less than six months after she was also named alongside Capital FM’s Anita Nderu among the most influential in Africa by BBC. Adelle recently opened up saying that it’s a thing she aimed for and worked hard towards.

“Well, a year ago I told my team that one goal was to be recognised as one of the top media personalities in Africa, and we did!” she said.

“So it’s putting my mind to something and ending up achieving it! But it’s a lot of work! The constant work to see your dream projects take off. Sometimes sleep becomes a luxury, which is unhealthy, but what do you do? Nothing worth having or worth achieving comes easy! There are always challenges that aren’t there to make you give up but just sharpen your craft.”

She hopes that her recognition will help her change the world and empower women.

Tanzanian veteran singer Mr Nice has finally been forced to open up about rumors claiming that he is HIV positive.

The singer who was once among the top celebrities in East Africa has been said to be living with the virus since 2002. This is shortly after his career had picked up giving him an opportunity to get any woman of his choice.

According to rumors Mr Nice lost his sense of direction in music and this is how he met his downfall. However speaking to E-news on EATV the singer opened up addressing the rumor that has been going rounds for years now.

According to the singer, the rumor was started back in 2012 by random people looking out to destroy his career. In his defense he says that people who were HIV positive back then have been dead and buried along time ago!

Rumour-mongers have been claiming am HIV positive since 2002.I think I should be dead by now if I was HIV positive since then, but here I am.We’ve buried people infected with Aids in numbers since 2002.

He went on to add that his fans have been quite supportive and none give him stress with the baseless rumors! He concluded by adding;

My fans do not give me headaches with the baseless rumours.They always say that they know me and cannot be misled with the false claims.My enemies are behind the HIV rumours because they’ve tried to bring me down with a number of things including marijuana and women in vain.

Avril Nyambura has refused to answer any questions concerning her pregnancy. From what we have heard before is both the singer and rumored baby daddy have been denying the pregnancy rumors.

However Avril’s baby bump keeps getting harder to hide especially now that she is in her last trimester. She was once again spotted at the Aga Khan Hospital’s Princess Zahra Pavillion Antenatal Clinic as reported by edaily.

According to the news outlet, they received a few photos from a reliable source confirming that indeed Avril is pregnant. Also, looking at her recent photos, it’s clear to note that she has been trying to hide her bump using oversized clothes; but either way it won’t be for long.

Superstar Serena Williams asks organizers to bring Tennis tournament to Kenya

Tennis superstar Serena Williams has asked the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) to consider setting up a tournament in Africa and Kenyan should be their first choice when scouting a place. Williams asked WTA to start an African tour and consider Kenya because it’s a beautiful place. Her own words, not mine.

Speaking to BBC, she said she has thought about before and thinks it can be an amazing thing.

“It is something I have thought about and I would like to keep thinking about it. I’m glad you brought it up because I think it would be amazing. It would be so fun – the help that we could do, and the awareness and the athletes and the amazing players that would come out of Africa would just be unbelievable,” she said.

The WTA Tour is an elite professional tennis circuit organised by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Williams, who is making her first return since giving birth six months ago, said Kenya is one of her favorite places.

End of slaying? Vera Sidika finally gets a job

You can’t talk about slaying and not mention the queen mother of slayers in Kenya, Vera Sidika.

No one slays better than Vera and all ladies have come to terms with this. This is her field and she has always dominated.

That, however, might soon lessen after the popular socialite found “a job” that might be keeping her really occupied. Vera is now an interior designer and has been on Instagram lately gushing over her work.

She gave her living room a facelift with some exquisite furniture and took to Instagram to showcase her work.

“Created this little cute space in my living room in 10 minutes,” she posted. “I love staying indoors….Hope y’all are having a great evening,” she said in another post.

She also had talked about life as an interior designer in an earlier post. Could this be what is keeping her busy and out of Instagram of late? Some fans in the comment claimed that she’s locked indoors because she’s pregnant. Time, all in all, will tell.
