Uproar as Gladys Kamande becomes a slay queen and Kenyans think she’s using money raised for her treatment to fund her lifestyle

A total of Kes 9.6 million was raised by Kenyans towards the treatment of Gladys Kamande. Only Kes 5 million was spent on Gladys’ treatment.

The remaining amount was a serious bone of contention between Gladys and funds drive manager Ndugu Nyoro. The two parties finally agreed to split the money with Kes 2 million given to Gladys for her future hospital travels and the balance of Kes 2 million was given to assist other Kenyans in need of medical intervention.

Kenyans think Gladys is using the Kes 2 million given to her to fund her expensive lifestyle. Photos of Gladys slaying have been widely shared on social media.

It turns out that Nyoro and Gladys agreed to split the money in half after holding a meeting with other concerned parties to resolve the impasse.

“On 2nd August, Gladys Kamande, her daughter Annita, her mom Jane Kabaria, her brother Mwangi Kamande, a family friend Mwangi, 3 members of Mercy Ministry namely Winnie Maina, Kahindo Waraho Prince Paul, Cllr John Kibue, a media representative and an advocate held a meeting at Boulevard Hotel Nairobi.

“The matter was discussed at length but finally came to a conclusion. The members in attendance scrutinized all documents tabled and agreed we can now close the chapter. Of the verified Bank statement, the available Balance was Kshs 4.3M

“The hospital bill plus Gladys’ cash for local use summed up to Kshs. 300,000 leaving a balance of Kshs. 4M. Members indicated to the family that majority of Kenyans were not comfortable with entire amount being given out to them for comfort yet many Kenyans are stuck in hospitals for lack of funds to facilitate basic treatment.

“At the request of Gladys Kamande’s mum, those in attendance agreed to transfer Kshs 2M to Gladys Kamande for her future hospital travels and the balance of Kshs. 2M be retained to assist other Kenyans in need of medical intervention,” Ndungu Nyoro wrote in part.

Nyoro used part of the 2 million he got from Gladys’ medical money to pay hospital bill for 12 patients who were restrained at Kenyatta Hospital because of unpaid bills.

Ndugu Nyoro chooses to transfer 5 million to Gladys Kamande’s account after fierce scuffle

Funds drive manager Ndugu Nyoro has decided to absolve himself from the controversy that shrouded money raised by Kenyans for the treatment of Gladys Kamande.

Nyoro clashed with Gladys and her family when he demanded accountability on the use of the Kes 9.6 million raised for her treatment.

Gladys Kamande

So far 4.6 million has already been spent in Kamande’s treatment and the remaining 5 million is what has caused the fierce tussle between interest parties.

Ndugu Nyoro has now opted to transfer the remaining 5 million shillings to Gladys Kamande’s account in a bid to absolve himself from the controversy.

Ndugu Nyoro

“I will leave it to her to have full control of the money because the controversy has gone on for so long. We have agreed that when she is ready we will meet at the bank and transfer the money to her personal account.

“Kenyans know I really tried to protect the money they had donated to this case but since some of them also criticized my demanding for accountability, I do not expect them to fault me for anything,” Ndugu Nyoro said during an interview on Kameme FM.

Nyoro also announced that he will be taking a break from online fundraising for the foreseeable future. He put his Facebook account up on sale amid protests from his followers who urged him not to sell it.

Gladys Kamande locks horns with Ndugu Nyoro over 9.6 million treatment money raised by Kenyans

Who’s telling the truth? Gladys Kamande claims that funds drive manager Ndugu Nyoro has refused to release money for her treatment while the accused says there is a big conspiracy by Gladys’ family to use the money raised by Kenyans for personal gain.

So far Kes 4.5 million has been spent on Gladys Kamande’s treatment, she travelled to India for specialized treatment that saw her get rid of the oxygen tank that assisted her in breathing.

Drama however started after Kamande returned to Kenya, the remaining Kes 5 million in the account is the reason why she clashed with Ndugu Nyoro.

Ndugu Nyoro claims Gladys wanted to buy a plot of land with part of the money and he couldn’t allow her since the money was raised for the sole purpose of catering for her treatment.

Gladys was unhappy with Nyoro’s refusal and she conspired with her family to taint Ndugu Nyoro’s name by claiming he had refused to release money for her treatment.

“I am almost certain it was a conspiracy. How ungrateful can some people be? A group of unhappy friends teamed up, brought GLADYS KAMANDE on board and the game was done. Target? I be removed as a signatory from funds raised by the public so that someone else can have a field day.

“First they said Gladys was not treated because I refused to send money. I have attached a bill from BLK Hospital in India which I managed to get from the hospital yesterday. You can clearly see that she was treated and at the bottom of the bill they have indicated on the payments made.

“They also said I’m holding Kshs 9M , I’ll attach later a bank statements showing all details. Last few weeks alone we did 3 withdrawals amounting to Ksks. 400, 000. This is the amount I demanded for accountability.

“I have attached a second picture indicating the communication I got from hospital and the amount required. Somebody ask her how much we sent for this particular surgery. We withdrew the cash, gave it to her mother who confirmed to us it was sent.

“We paid timely all her air tickets including her daughter’s. Now they have ganged up against me. I hate dramas. As soon as she can be able to respond to questions I would like her to answer the following…

“We have so far sent 4.5M shillings for her treatment. The first trip we are able to get receipts accounting 1M, the second trip about 0.4M. Can she account for the rest? That’s my humble question.

“I always say I’m open to questions, even now I’m ready. But one thing is clear, when you approach me to assist you fundraise I’ll stick around until the funds are used for that particular purpose.

“At some point she identified a plot of land worth Kshs 1.5M. I requested her to allow us go through treatment until the doctors give clean bill of health. She was unhappy but I thought that was the best option for now.

“I am guilty as charged. I am guilty for demanding proper use of funds, on behalf of the contributors. I know how difficult it is to convince people to sacrifice their cash only for it to be spent buying expensive things and showing off to the very poor contributors. God help me,” Ndugu Nyoro wrote.

Saturday July 22nd Gladys told the Standard that she was unable to pay for her treatment at the Komarock Modern Hospital (she was admitted there) because Nyoro refused to release the money her medication for the last four months.

“I am not the signatory to those funds so I wouldn’t know where that money has gone to. I have never gone to the bank to withdraw even a single shilling. Right now everyone says I am the one at fault. I have been abused from Thursday and told so many things including that I lied about my sickness,” Gladys told the Standard.

Nyoro was infuriated by Standard’s claims that he hasn’t supported Gladys’ treatment in the last 4 months. He produced documents to prove he released money meant for Gladys’ treatment in the said period.

“To be honest I never saw this coming. To an extent of someone reporting on a reputable media like STANDARD that I have never supported her treatment in the last 4 months?

“The first picture attached is a medical bill from the hospital she was treated in June/July. At the foot of the bill are two transactions for paying the bill. One is through cash and the other electronically.

“Where did the cash come from? The attached are SOME of the receipts indicating money sent via WESTERN UNION.

“The transaction done electronically can also be captured from where it was done. We shall get bank statements at Kasarani then we can have our conclusions.

“All these because I asked someone to ACCOUNT? It’s o.k,” Ndugu Nyoro wrote.

Mike Sonko takes all the credit for Gladys Kamande’s well being as he reveals some other shocking details about the lady

Miracles do exist and Gladys Kamande who has now been granted yet another chance in life can attest to this.

In just a span of 10 years, she has had to be admitted as a patient 3 times at PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, 3 times at Kiambu General Hospital, 4 times at Thika level 5 Hospital and 2 times at KNH. 12 times in total.

And that’s not all, she has also had to stay in ICU for 5 months, undergo 12 surgeries and 5 miscarriages. At one point she even got blind after one of the surgeries interfered with her optical nerve.

After going all that and coming out a winner, surely now the world is just yours to conquer.

Check out the long touching message Sonko shared about the lady:

Watu Wangu Sometimes I lack words to express my feelings. Friends, this has been purely a journey of faith. God has in his special way placed a burden of GLADYS KAMANDE’s treatment on each and every one’s heart. Last year November I shared the story of Gladys Kamande via Ndugu Nyoro, I explained her 10 years of hospital visits. She has had to be admitted as a patient 3 times at PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, 3 times at Kiambu General Hospital, 4 times at Thika level 5 Hospital and 2 times at KNH. 12 times in total. I mentioned her stay in ICU for 5 months, her 12 surgeries, her 5 miscarriages. I mentioned how she became BLIND in 2010 after one of the surgeries interfered with her optical nerve. I have explained how the doctor broke the news of her COLLAPSED LUNGS and how she has had to ‘generate’ her own oxygen to live. That was Last Year. Today 5 Months after, God has done a wonderful miracle in her life as you can see in the pictures. I thank you all who sacrificed your efforts to ensure Gladys’ life is back on track.
