“People under the age of 40 should not get married” Husband to the late Janet Ikua explain why

George Ikua who was married to the late Janet Ikua, a cancer victim recently opened up about a few things concerning marriage while on an interview on Switch TV.

Mr Ikua who has had some experience in marriage went on to advice the Youths not to rush into settling down when young. According to him, couples above 40 are the only people who should be allowed to marry and start a family.

This is because by this time a person would have recognized the kind of responsibilities waiting for him; and how to handle marriage itself.

The Ikua’s

actually think people under the age of 40 should not get married. I think you don’t know who you are or what you are doing. I can tell you that when you start a relationship, there are a couple of languages that have to match and I’m not trying to be philosophical. The language of love and attraction, which many call chemistry is the first thing. You realize you click and connect, you even finish each other’s sentences, and you know you like the same things and excite each other. The feeling is like a high and we all know what happens when you are high on something? It’s not permanent. You can’t be high forever, there’s no drug designed like that. Please note that that is the first thing,”

Second part of marriage

Mr Ikua went on to add the importance of intimacy in a couple! Apart from the usual attraction – George Ikua made it known that attraction is as important to intimacy!

What is your understanding of intimacy and what is her understanding of intimacy? Also, what is your understanding of its importance in a marriage context? This is what we call the first marriage, the marriage of attraction and intimacy.

Away from that George Ikua also touched on the importance of understanding one another’s money language. To him most this enables one to know whether they are compatible or not!

In the second marriage, which is how you know whether somebody ticks the boxes is the language of money. Because while we can be compatible, if me as a lady I think you should bring a certain amount of money, I should manage the money you bring and most of this learning I have picked from my parents, neighbours or whatever TV show and we never talk about it. So you, you come put your money in the common kitty which you share, she doesn’t involve you, she goes and runs with it then you start saying she is a gold digger, yet, that’s her language of money.

George Ikua narrates how hard it was to let go of his late wife’s clothes among other things

It’s been 7 months since former NTV journalist and media personality Janet Ikua passed on after battling with cancer for a while. Her death came as a shock to many who admired her strength and the spirit she held until her last breathe.

She however left behind a young family that has been trying to live with her memory now that she cannot be here physically. Her husband recently revealed that it has been hard on is part especially now that he had to clean her closets and remove her clothes from their room now that she will never come back.

Speaking with Victoria Rubadiri on Victoria’s Lounge revealed some of the hardships he has had to face. He said,

“Janet died on April first and on April fifth was our son’s birthday and we decide we are having it anyway.the massive pain is there is a 7 and a 4-year old who will never see their mother again, it breaks you when you see that.”

He is however grateful to have his nanny around as she has ensured to keep his family on their feet as he said,

“my nanny of seven years has just held the house on a system, my house never lacks. its a fully functioning house.”

He went on to add that after deciding to do away with her clothes – but this was the hardest time of his life as he said:

“we sleep the three of us, my son, daughter and myself. we decided to re-do their rooms, the maids in the house needed to re-arrange the room. all Janet’s clothes were gone.even her most intimate clothes were packed into bags and starched on drawers in the spare bedroom.”

Though it was hard to this there was no other way as the clothes she left behind could not fill the void in his heart. He said,

“I broke down completely and started to realize these clothes are not Janet. I would never have moved those clothes for three years but i started realizing that’s not Janet. I went, closed myself in the spare room, pulled down those bags, started tearing through them and i realized these clothes are not Janet. i sealed them back.”

“I miss you” This is the beautiful message George Ikua dedicated his late wife

Death robs us at a gun point and most of the time we are left feeling stranded after losing a loved one. George Ikua who is the husband to the late Janet Ikua understands this feeling pretty well and just like any husband who has lost the love of his life, the father of two cannot hold back whenever he feels like expressing how much he misses his wife.

For the first time in a long time George Ikua opened up about how much he misses his wife in a touchy message shared on his social media. Gathering from what he wrote, George definitely was affected by the death of his wife and is still healing from his tragic lose.

Through his social media pages George wrote saying,

From Pedro, Jaz and I we miss you dearly… A heart that’s broke is a heart that’s been loved…. thank you for your love hope you still dancing”

Well, it might seem hard for now but George and his kids sooner or later will get over the pain of losing the super woman in their lives.

The private service attracted her colleagues, close friends of the family and the family she left behind. This opened up an opportunity for her loved ones to bid her their final goodbyes as her body will be moved to her husband’s home in Naromoru, Nanyuki town where she will be aid to rest tomorrow, April 8.

From the little information I have gathered from rounds on social media, seems that most Kenyans have been sending their contributions through the #IstandWithJanet as they support her husband and children who are going through this hard time trying to come into terms with the fact that their mother is no longer with them.

We from the Ghafla team also send out our heartfelt condolences to her family. Checkout the photos below:

It still seems like a bad joke to even imagine that Janet Ikua is no longer with us.

But, this is something we cannot reverse and though it pains her family and close friends…we know that she is now in a better place with no pain but eternal peace until the day she will be reunited with her family.

Details of the burial place and date were however released earlier this week, April 3, by her family moments after George Ikua (the husband) came out to speak two days after his wife’s sudden death.
