Moji Short Baba made a good decision to go solo

I find Moji Short Babaa’s musical approach interesting. Despite being a gospel singer, he infuses elements of satire in his songs and you’ll just find yourself laughing.

Perhaps this is why he stands apart from other gospel singers. He is unapologetically himself even in his music.

When word went round that he had parted ways with his fellow artist, Silvanus Otieno alias Didi, his fans weren’t even worried since they knew he had it him.

Two years down the line, Moji has proven them right. His star has continued to shine even after leaving Kelele Takatifu and this say a lot about him.

Actually, people claim that he’s even more productive now that he is a solo artist since he does not have to consult before he makes a decision.

If you compare his output over the last two years with what he did when he was still a member of Kelele Takatifu, you’ll see the difference. It’s quite.

He has also grown his brand. Apart from music, the funny singer is now trying out his hand in media as a contributor on Talk Central on K24.

Gospel singer James Muhia, popularly known as Emoji Short Babaa, is back with a new jam and we are really feeling it.

The song titled Unabore, which loosely translates to you are boring, is all about not being afraid of showing how much you love God.

According to Moji, if you are grateful for the things that He has done for you, you should stand up dance for Him.

He says it doesn’t matter who you are or whatever position you hold in the society. Otherwise, you are boring.

There’s a part where he sings, “Haijalishi wewe ni nani, wewe ni wa Nairobi ama wa mashinani, wewe ni msee mpoa ama kisirani lazima unajua Mungu ni nani.”

Moji goes on to urge people to dance for God or else the stones will praise Him.

As you would expect, Moji’s lyricism is really on point in this jam. It is the kind of songs that you just want to keep listening to.

The beat, which was produced by Again Go Sevil, is also great. It will make you get up from your chair and dance for God. You can’t fight it, trust me.

The video was directed by the one and only Steve Mugo and he also did an admirable job. Props to him.

Artist Spotlight: Ben Cyco, gospel singer who continued to shine after his group split up

Former Christ Cycoz member Bernard Kariuki, alias Ben Cyco, has been making major moves as a solo artist after the award-winning group split up in 2016.

When the two other members of the group that was fondly referred to as ‘Kenya’s One Direction’ decided to pursue other interests, i.e. video production and fashion, Ben stuck to his guns stuck to his guns and went on to launch his solo career.

That decision paid off when his career picked up almost immediately. His songs were received well by music fans and received massive airplay across local radio and TV stations.

In the last two years, Ben has released a number of songs including including Lile Lile, One Touch, Cheza Kama Wewe, Nashuka, Bomba, Neema and Najinice, a collabo with Didi Man formerly of Kelele Takatifu.

As the year began, Ben released yet another song dubbed Like You that talks about how Christ is always on our side. His consistency goes to show how serious he is with his career.
