Octopizzo, several other artists join MCSK to celebrate collective management day

The second edition of the African Copyright and Collective Management Day officially kicked off today, Septemeber 14 and will focus on celebrating author’s rights.

Creators and authors societies will be joined by special artist ambassadors for the Africa-wide event which has hopes to inform, educate and draw attention to the vibrant contributions of creators and copyright to the lives of millions throughout Africa and beyond.

Copyright and collective management are tools for creators, just like paintbrushes, guitars or cameras. They are also keys to economic development, contributing enormously to the well-being of countries and continents. This is why CISAC is helping raise awareness about its importance across Africa.

Music Copyright Society of Kenya(MCSK) has also made sure that Kenya has also celebrated the event.

MCSK has chosen to celebrate this important event by partnering with broadcasters, through its Copyright Ambassadors by visiting the major broadcasting stations and appealing to them and other users to pay royalties for the benefit of all authors.

Pay

Time has come for Kenyan creators to express themselves with dignity for their rights and the protection of their works not only regarding themselves but also for their children who will embrace the career of being artists’ tomorrow.

The event comes at a time when the Collective Management Organisation (CMO) sent the highest amount of cash to their 14,000 members after collecting Ksh 37 million.

In a tweet, MCSK explained that they have not received any money from any broadcasters who exploit local music adding that the best way was to do a general distribution

“We made a general distribution because if we strictly followed scientific distribution then 70% of the money collected will be paid to the international societies. We all know that Kenyan music receives little airplay. The figures you’d received would be less.” Read the tweet.

The society sent Ksh 2500 to each member, the highest they have since they started.

Wife material! Octopizzo’s new ‘feminine’ hairstyle leaves social media on fire

Rapper Octopizzo recently found himself trending for rather some awkward reason after stepping out in an expected hairdo.

The rapper appeared on 10-over-10 show with his new hairdo while speaking about the current state of music in Kenya and social media hated it.

Kenyans trolled the “Kanye” rapper calling his hairstyle feminine and all other kinds of names.

Khaligraph Jones: My woman knows every truth about me. I open up to her more than anyone else

Rapper Khaligraph Jones has said that he’s not concerned by people who judge him from his music videos.

Jones, who is about to become a father, shared that the most important thing is that his woman know him and his story.

“I don’t care what people say out there. People judge even when they don’t know me personally. If you judge me from what you see in my videos, then you know nothing about me. That is your problem. My woman knows me,” he said.

Focused

Jones said that his woman is the only person who knows everything about her and that always keeps him on check. Nothing else matter.

“She knows what I am capable of. She knows every truth about me because I have opened up to her more than I have opened up to anyone else,” Khaligraph told the Pulser.

“Anything else becomes side-lines and total nonsense. One thing I should say is that when you find someone you really love, she gives you real discipline and gives life a different meaning. I go home to her. I am working hard day and night because of my family.”

Revealed: Octopizzo will only work with Khaligraph if their collabo fetches him Mulla, nothing else!

Octopizzo is one guy known, not to grant interviews. If in the first place, he ever did.

He rather prefers to communicate his thoughts and ideas through various social media platforms or in his music.

However, Citizen´s Mzazi Willy M Tuva interviewed him just yesterday.

Rapper, Octopizzo

The known rapper who made it out of Kibera slums, had loads to share.

Something interesting came out.

This is his relationship with rapper, Khaligraph Jones.

What of him and Khaligraph?

The two have had a checkered past and are currently experiencing a state of detente.

He gave further insight that although the two have a cordial relationship, they are hardly in communication.

The last time I spoke to Khaligraph Jones was 2 years ago.

I, however, regularly keep in touch with King Kaka and Sauti Sol´s, Polycarp, because they are real people.

During our conversations, rarely do we speak about music.

Most of the time, our chats revolve around the state of Kenya, family – our spouses and children.

Rapper, Octopizzo

The known rapper explained to Mzazi that he would only work with Khaligraph if their collabo fetches him mulla.

I am ready to work with any artiste so long as I am making money from such arrangements.

I won´t work with an artiste for the sake of it, for the sake of hype, for the sake of giving in to pressure from certain quarters.

Additionally, he articulated;

I would work with a musician because I am passionate of the project we´re pursuing.
