In the jam dubbed Instagram Girls, Khaligraph warns men who are in the habit of sliding into girls DMs saying they should be wary about these random strangers that they meet on the internet.

Khaligraph Jones

He goes on to narrate a story about a girl he met on Instagram named Shareefa and how she ended up stealing all his valuables while he was asleep.

Instagram Girls, which is off Khaligraph Jones Testimony 1990 album, is without a doubt his best work yet. It is one jam that you will have on repeat for a very long time because it’s a masterpiece.

If you are not sure whether Khaligraph is the real King of rap then perhaps you should listen to this jam because he is not only showcasing his storytelling skills, the punchlines are also out of this world.

To add to that, the Yes Bana hitmaker has a natural flow that will definitely get you hooked from the moment you hit the play button.

Khaligraph Jones
Khaligraph Jones

In my opinion, the most amazing aspect of this song is the chorus. You guy, Papa Jones really sings his heart out and you might even forget that he is a rapper.

The beat and instrumentation on this jam is on point. Other than the fact that it’s very catchy, it also blends perfectly well with Khaligraph’s flow and vocals.

The video concept is also impeccable. It tells you the story in the song in the best way possible and you can tell what Khaligraph is singing about if you are watching it on mute. Kudos to the videographer.

Khaligraph Jones Ex rapper Cashy opens up about dealing with her absent baby daddy!

Rapper Cashy is a proud mother of one handsome baby boy she always tries to keep off her social media pages!

However even after her son turned 1 year the lass continues to keep her baby daddy on the low. Probably this is because he has been absent in both her life and that of their son as revealed on her latest post.

Miss Cashy with son, Xolani

Through a detailed post shared on her Instagram page; Cashy for the first time speaks about some of the hardships she has been battling with as a single parent.

Cashy opens up about her son’s father

The lady reveals that she has battling with anxiety thanks to her baby daddy’s pride! She went on to write saying;

Cashy

I cried for 3 hours before this picture was taken, but who posts pictures of their tears?… lol I cried because I feel very deeply for the wellbeing and future of my son. As a mom, I battle sooo much with anxiety and then pride, especially when it comes to dealing with an absent ‘other parent’. It gets overwhelming, and I think moms/dads are superheroes for handling their own emotions.. while still being fully present for their kids and being kickass cool parents.

Her story is however not new as many female celebrities like Pierra Makena, Bridget Achieng among other continue to raise their children as single parents.

Rapper Cashy

In conclusion Cashy wrote;

Power to everyone who manages to smile through the waves,Power to the men/women who step in to help raise these kids, and power to everyone else who holds our hands. ❤ Special love to all you moms doing your best????????

This comes after her nasty break up with Khaligraph Jones who she claims used to abuse her both physically and emotionally. They however both moved on and now Khaligraph Jones is currently in a serious relationship with, Georgina Muteti.

Khaligraph Jones opens up about his battle with depression!

Rapper Khaligraph Jones is happy to be alive today! Back then when he had not ventured into music, the singer says life was quite hard for him to a point where he got depressed.

Speaking to Anto NeoSoul just recently, Khaligraph who is a father of one beautiful daughter narrated his story like never before.

Anto Neosoul

Anto NeoSoul who had watched a documentary about Khaligraph Jones went on to ask him whether what he revealed on the interview about his struggle with depression was real, saying;

You spoke that you’ve undergone depression before. There’s an interview I was watching , actually a documentary on you, and I was quite shocked that someone like you would have ever been depressed?

Well turns out that everything Khaligraph talked about on his documentary was true. The rapper says he was forced to drop out of form 4 due to the harsh circumstances in his family. Khali went on to narrate;

Papa Jones

Life never used to be like this, things were different way back. You know where I’m from Kayole 1960 and of course coming from such a place the usual stuff is expected. When I’m talking about the usual stuff I mean ni ngumu Maisha ilikua hard I remember I was having a conversation with your DJ and I told him mi niliachia shule form four not because I wanted to but because of the circumstance at that particular point, just like I said ,Things never used to be the way they are now. Things used to be hard we had to undergo a lot of trial and tribulations and all that to elevate to this position but now we are happy God is good we are making moves.

How dealt with suicidal thoughts

Anto NeoSoul went on to pose question hoping his listeners would learn from Baba Amalia asked;

Is there a specific moment you told yourself this has to stop, this needs to end? Asked Anto NeoSoul.

Baba Amali did not hold back from talking about his experience. Papa Jones revealed that he often got suicidal thoughts but he now thanks God for giving him the strength to deal with them maturely. He went on to conclude saying;

Khaligraph Jones advise to Bahati’s snitching behavior

“Not once not twice, very many times. things used to happen at some point you would think it doesn’t get worse than this and then something else happens. I lost my dad and that time we had to move from Kayole to Dandora yaani life ilikua ni very difficult. And sometimes nlikua naona maybe Mungu sahii atatuonekania but you know that’s not how it used to be. You know at the end of the day its just life, hivyo ndivyo life iko and sometimes you have to be happy that you’ve made progress because I believe for me to be person I am today I had to go through all those things all those experiences, I am happy right now God blessed me

“Snitches are people who go to the police” Khaligraph Jones message to Bahati

Khaligraph Jones has joined the many people addressing the Bahati and Peter Blessing court issue on social media.

Bahati

Speaking exclusively to Mpasho the rapper went on to share a few words of advise to Bahati telling him that he should learn to stop running to the police everytime he has disputes with his EMB employees.

Last time he was said to have ordered the arrest of a pregnant Nimo and her dad for selling coffee without his consent at a New Years gig back in 2018.

Stop oppressing Peter Blessing

Well, Bahati is back with the same story as he was recently exposed for getting Peter Blessing and producer Paolo arrested after they walked out of EMB.

However Khaligraph Jones as seen that their is no need of keeping quiet about this matter. In his interview Khaligraph Jones went on to open up saying;

Khaligraph Jones advise to Bahati’s snitching behavior

Snitches are people who go to the police. Artists going to the police haiwezi they should sit down and talk and solve their issues. That is also my advise to Bahati. He should sit Peter Blessing down and talk. Police stations should be a last resort.

Khaligraph Jones went on to add that Bahati was oppressing the young man knowing very well that he had no money to battle him in court.

Speaking from his jail experience, Khaligraph went on to add;

Bahati and Peter

I have been arrested before and i know that it is not a good thing, instead of going through the trouble of court let them talk. That guy is broke and has no money, so why oppress him?that is a joke.

Blaqbonez claps back at Khaligraph Jones in new diss track ‘Green Blaq Green’ (Video)

If you are an avid internet user like myself then I am sure you are aware that local rapper Brian Ouko Omollo, better known as Khaligraph Jones, has been beefing with Nigeria’s Emeka Akumefule, alias Blaqbonez.

Also read: Khaligraph Jones has no competitor in Kenya

It all started when the Micasa Sucasa hitmaker was crowned Africa’s Best Hip hop act at Soundcity MVP awards. He beat the likes of Falz, Kwesta, Sarkodie, Medikal, Reminisce, Ricky Rick, Zakwe and, wait for it, Blaqbonez.

Blaqbonez

A day after the awards’ ceremony, this lad who if you ask me stood the least chance to bag the coveted award, took to social media to blast Soundcity and Khaligraph.

Blaqbonez explained that he should have been awarded instead because apparently he’s the best rapper in Africa. He also vowed to release a diss to Papa Jones the following day.

His sentiments provoked Khaligraph Jones so much so that the Kayole-bred rapper and released a diss track dubbed Best Rapper In Nigeria.

In the song, Papa Jones makes fun of Blaqbonez while lambasting him for rapping to Afrobeat and claiming that it is Hip Hop.

Khaligraph told the Nigerian artiste that he is the best rapper in Africa while describing himself as the G.O.A.T which stands for Greatest Of All Time.

To add insult to the wound, Khaligraph bragged how he beat Blaqbonez in front of his people, adding that he should wait for the next season if he is dissatisfied.

Hours later, Blaqbonez fired back at Khaligraph with Green Blaq Green which is a deviation from his usual Afrobeat style. Maybe, just maybe, he listened to Khaligraph afterall.

Khaligraph Jones
Khaligraph Jones

In the track, he claims that Khaligraph looks like he’s 52 based on his face and tells him to stop clout-chasing because he is never going to blow up in Nigeria. Therefore he should stop trying.

Blaqbonez also stated that he’s not afraid of Khaligraph, adding that if at all there’s any Kenyan that he holds in high esteem then it’s Eliud Kipchoge.

While I must admit that both diss tracks are really dope because of the tight punchlines and cheeky rhymes, both you and I know that Khaligraph carried the day.

Watch Green Blaq Green below and tell us what you think.

Put some respect on Khaligraph’s name!

Kenyan rapper Brian Ouko Omollo, better known as Khaligraph Jones, has managed to achieve feats that most of his counterparts can only dream of. I therefore feel that it’s about time he gets the respect that he deserves.

Also read: Khaligraph Jones has no competitor in Kenya

A few days ago, the Songea hitmaker was crowned Africa’s Best Hip hop act at Soundcity MVP awards beating music heavyweights such as Falz, Kwesta, Sarkodie, Medikal, Reminisce, Ricky Rick and Zakwe.

Falz The Bahd Guy

While a number of Kenyans, especially his die hard fans like yours truly, celebrated this milestone, which is no mean feat, some people weren’t too pleased since they are not used to Kenyan artists bagging such prestigious award.

Case in point is a 23-year-old rapper known as Blaqbonez who was also nominated alongside Khaligraph. I am not so sure why he thought he would win but that’s a story for another day.

A day after the ceremony, this chap who if you ask me stood the least chance to bag the prestigious award home, took to social media to blast Soundcity and Khaligraph.

Blaqbonez
Blaqbonez

Blaqbonez explained that he should have been awarded instead because apparently he’s the best rapper in Africa. He also vowed to release a diss to Papa Jones the following day.

However, Khaligraph outsmarted him and dropped his diss track dubbed Best Rapper In Nigeria so much so that no one even cares about Blaqbonez’ diss which was released a day later.

While I’m happy about the publicity that Khaligraph is getting over the so-called ‘beef’, I’m also perplexed because a 23-year-old who’s not even known in his home country thought he stood a chance against Papa Jones. How?

If you have been a fan of Khaligraph for as long as I have been then I’m sure you know how much work he has put to get where he is at the moment and that means that he deserves every right to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Khaligraph Jones

Blaqbonez has also made some great strides in his career but he should know that for a Kenyan to bag such an award then he must have put in a lot of work because let’s be honest, very people give a hoot about music from our country.

The Nigerian music industry is far much ahead of ours the same way Kenya leads the pack in churning out athletes in the continent.

This means it is probably ten times harder for a Kenyan musician to get noticed than it is for a Nigerian. As such, we need to put some respect on Khaligraph’s name because it didn’t come easy.

Listen to Best Rapper In Nigeria below and tell us what you think.

“I take my apology back!” Nigeria’s Blaq Bonez ready to battle it off with Khaligraph Jones

After issuing an apology just after saying that Soundcity was wrong to award Khaligraph Jokes as the best African rapper; the Nigerian artist has taken back his apology.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7RPxpLBqgE/?igshid=1ff5huqqsjcjv

This comes after Khaligraph hit the studio to release a diss track aimed at Blaq Bonez – who had previously talked about working on a diss track, which he didn’t since he expected Khaligraph to take the apology like a grown man.

However, Khali seized the opportunity and decided to blow off some steam in the studio; but looking at Blaq Bonez recent posts we can confirm that indeed this will be battling each other very soon.

Khaligraph Jones

Nigeria vs Kenya

Being the bigger person, fans feel that Khaligraph should have taken the apology and create an opportunity for working with Blaq Bonez instead of escalating the beef.

Khaligraph Jones opens up on his political ambitions

The two would have probably released a banger to rule both the Nigerian and Kenyan air waves; but I guess throwing shade seems to be working for both – so let’s see how things turn out.

“He will end your career!” Fans warn Nigerian rapper against dissing Khaligraph Jones

Kenyan fans supporting Khaligraph Jones have come out to warn Nigerian rapper blaq Bonez against dissing the Kenyan rapper in his alleged upcoming project.

Khaligraph Jones

This comes after the rapper called out the Soundcity MVP awards for awarding Khaligraph Jones; who he claims did not deserve the win.

According to Blaq Bonez, Mr Jones should have not been named as Africa’s best rapper since he believes that he is way better than Khali.

Through his Instagram page Blaq Bonez went on to post a video where he said;

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7M6YolBxMC/?igshid=30cg4dos1owy

Khaligraph Jones responds

Having come across the video, Khaligraph Jones quickly called out the Nigerian rapper where he promised to end his career just incase he was thinking of dissing him.

So far so good since Blaq Bonez has already apologized and continues to support the love of African music.

Blaq Bonez

Be it a Nigeria, Kenyan or Tanzanian I believe that we are in an Era where we all support each other like African’s in order to take the black music across the globe!

Respect the OG! Khaligraph Jones named as the best African rapper at the Soundcity MVP 2020 awards

Khaligraph Jones indeed made many Kenyans proud this past weekend after he walked away with the best African rapper award at the Soundcity MVP awards.

Rapper Jones bags award

Knowing very well that he made sure to release some of his best projects back in 2019; this did not come as a surprise but a reward for his hard work.

As usual the Kenyan rapper went on to thank his fans for the support and love they have been showing him since the beginning of his career. He went on write saying;

Khaligraph Jones

Thank you so Much fam, biggest achievement of my career, Never give up on your dream no matter what some may people will say about it and about You. stay Hungry and God will always come through…. #respecttheogs

Khaligraph Jones the only OG

His award was however not appreciated by everyone since there are those who feel that he did not deserve the win.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7M6YolBxMC/?igshid=13qxogeanw3vl

One Nigerian rapper Blaqbones has given many a reason to talk after he called out Khaligraph Jones saying that the award shouldn’t have been given to him.

This has left fans from both camps attacking each other on social media media and I guess the only way to resolve this is to have both artists dropping new songs for us to judge, yes? Anyway congratulations to the only existing OG.

Silverstone Barz turns on the heat in latest release ‘Watch Yo Mouth’ (Video)

Upcoming female rapper Silverstone Barz – who became a household name after dropping dope punchlines on Khali Cartel 3 – has finally released her mixtape and it’s getting a lot of love from her fans.

One of the jams that really stand out is the mixtape dubbed Queen Pin, a corruption of the word kingpin, is Watch Yo Mouth. I have been listening to it on repeat and every time I play it, it’s like I am hearing it for the very first time.

You probably already knew this but Silverstone’s flow is impeccable. Honestly, I have no qualms with people who are always comparing her with the likes of Nicki Minaj and/or Cardi B because she plays in that league.

Silverstone Barz
Silverstone Barz

Perhaps it’s because she her lyrics are always in English, no Sheng’, Swahili nor any other language. You’d even think that she is from the diaspora.

Her flow in this jam is really dope. It’s like she doesn’t even need a beat. To add to that, Silverstone has great rhymes and her ability to play around with words is unmatched.

Female rappers in the country should be worried about this lass who refers to herself as the punchline queen because she didn’t come to play.

The beat on this jam is also on point and it blends well with flow and lyrics. I’m sure all hip hop heads agree with me on this. Props to the producer and we can’t wait to see the video.

Listen to Watch Yo Mouth below and tell us what you think.

Khaligraph Jones confesses that he is ready to work with Octopizzo

Baba Amali aka Khaligraph Jones is ready to put all his differences with rapper Octopizzo. Khaligraph revealed this in his latest free style that has left his fans excited.

Khaligraph Jones confesses that he is ready to work with Octopizzo

The father of one shared the video on his Instagram page and judging from the lyrics in his rap – we can indeed confirm that Khaligraph Jones is ready to become besties with Octopizzo.

In the freestyle that is making rounds on social media, Khaligraph is heard saying;

Na mi sina beef na Ohanga. Ohanga hunitaki kwa nini, mbona usifanye track na mimi tu top hizi charts za Mjini, after that I would be happy amini. Sitaki interview za gazeti , maswali za ufala hazileti , mimi huomba kama ndingi wa Nzeki, GOAT kama Ronaldo na Messi, nani mwingine kama mimi (hakuna), mafuta napaka Marini…”

Khaligraph Jones real life story

Judging from story he is narrating through his favorite style, rap; we also understand that he gets too personal because the story is based on his past life.

He is however one proud man and having grown up in the ghetto – made him the man he is today!

Mi ni Ras ni dread tu sina, na nishawahi kuwa mwizi masimba, najua mapedi majina aidha way hamwezi nishinda , ukikuja east mi kamanda, try kunidiss pia ni blander , form ni Mazishiana Matanga.

Khaligraph’s brother Lamaz Span drops new hit dubbed ‘Niko Na Form’ (Video)

Does the name Lamaz Span ring a bell in your mind? I am pretty sure many of you will remember him from his huge collabo with Khaligraph Jones dubbed Me Siogopi.

Other than the fact that he is Papa Jones elder brother and if you are a fan of Kenyan music, like yours truly you’ll be pleased to know that he is also a musician and he has a new single out.

The song titled Niko Na Form has been getting good airplay since it came out a few days ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it.

Khaligraph Jones and Lamaz Span
Khaligraph Jones and Lamaz Span

Niko Na Form is a common phrase that mean that someone has a plan, a party of sorts, so he often invites his or her to come.

I don’t know about you but I really love this jam simply because we are used to Lamaz Span rapping but on this on he is singing and it has words like like sereka and mbogi which means it’s closer to Gengetone more than anything.

There is not much to say about the lyricism but I can tell you for free that this guy has some dope wordplay. You just want to keep listening to him and that is never a bad thing.

The video quality is also dope. The vixens were also on point. In as much as the beat is not similar to the one that we are used to listening to in such jams, I still loved it.

Kenyan musicians have so much to learn from their Tanzanian counterparts

I’m not a fan of Bongo music. I only listen to Tanzanian songs when I have to, for instance when I am doing a review or when they are randomly played at a club, party or in a matatu.

Also read: Why it’s hard for artists to be consistent

On the flip side, I admire so many Tanzanian artists not for any other reason but because they really work their asses off. I could list them but their names would take up all this space. So, I’ll save you the agony.

WCB arists
WCB artists

Bongo music has always been big deal  not only in Tanzania but across the continent and it’s bout time we – or rather our artists – borrowed a leaf from them.

They should ask themselves questions like,”What can we learn from Tanzanian musicians?”, “What areas should we work on?” and “What are they doing differently?”

One of the Bongo artists that I really admire, just like most of you is Diamond Platnumz. Despite being accomplished and all, he has never been content with his success. He keeps pushing each and every day.

Since the year begun he has released more than 30 songs, perhaps more, including collabos. As a result, he is always at the top of people’s minds.

Khaligraph Jones
Khaligraph Jones

It always seems like he is a pacesetter for the Tanzanian music industry since most people – including his stablemates – like Rayvanny, Lava Lava, Mbosso and Queen Darleen want to keep up with him.

The local music industry lacks a someone who keeps artists on their toes as is the case with Tanzania and this means that very few musicians, if any, give a hoot about consistency.

The truth is that people get bored very fast. I doubt if any of the people who are reading this article can have a jam in their playlists for more than a week and this means that artists need to release more music. There is no other way.

Many of you will be quick to point out that new age artists such as; Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Ochunglo Family, 34 GVNG, Gwaash, etc. are constantly releasing music but let’s be honest, that is not serious music.

Nadia Mukami
Nadia Mukami

In as much as we find the songs by these youngins catchy, they rarely transcend our borders. It’s what it is. To add to that, the quality is always wanting.

I’m talking about the likes of Nyashinski, Nadia Mukami, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, King Kaka, Redsan, Nameless, Jua Cali, Avril etc. Will they ever wake up from their deep slumber? If so, when? Enough said.

Silverstone Barz proves she’s the Kenyan queen of rap in new single titled ‘Midnight In Nairobi’ (Video)

After awing Kenyans with her tight flow and punchlines on Khaligraph’s Khali Cartel 3, Silverstone Barz has released a new joint to show us that she really means business.

The song dubbed Midnight in Nairobi, which is off her upcoming mixtape titled Queenpin, is such a masterpiece and I know you will agree with me after listening to it.

Silverstone Barz
Silverstone Barz

Once again, Silverstone Barz, who fondly refers to herself as the punchline queen, has proven that it is only matter of time before she takes the title of Kenya’s queen of rap.

Her flow and punchlines on this jam is so impressive and it is likely that you’ll be left scratching your head as you try to understand what she really meant.

One of the lines that really wowed me was when she said, “You need a nose job, can’t tell I am the shit.” I don’t know who your favourite Kenyan rapper is but I sure Silverstone Barz can outdo him or her in a rap battle.

The beat on this jam is also on point and it blends well with flow and lyrics. I’m sure all hip hop heads agree with me on this. Props to K6 On The Beat.

Silverstone Barz

If you’ve been looking for something different, there you go! What’s more is that all of her verses in this jam are only in English, no Swahili, no Sheng. This lass is definitely going places.

Ochunglo Family’s Benzema and Breeder LW have linked up on a new jam titled ‘Inde’ and it’s too lit (Video)

Do you guys remember Breeder LW? The chap who amazed Kenyans when he dropped a dope verse on Khaligraph’s Khali Cartel 3? If you do, then you would be pleased to know that he has a new jam.

Breeder LW has linked up with Ochunglo Family’s Benzema, also known as Alejandro, and some guy who goes by the name Jimito on a new song titled Inde and it slaps really hard.

Inde is a Sheng word that means. It’s a corruption of innadi which I sure most of you are familiar with. Basically, it is used to shrug off people who think you are missing out on something.

Benzema and Breeder LW
Benzema and Breeder LW

I really love this jam. I’ve been playing it since it was released a few days ago and I still like it. Every time I play it, it’s as if I am listening to it for the first time. I’m not even exaggerating but this is a masterpiece.

The lyricism on this jam is unmatched. I don’t know about you but it took me back to the early and mid 2000’s when the Genge wave was sweeping across the country.

Breeder LW’s verse was totally dope. Believe you me, his punchlines and rhymes will leave you scratching your head as you try trying to understand what he meant. To add to that he has this deep bass like Odi Wa Murang’a.

To be honest, this was my first time listening to a jam by Jimito but I was not disappointed. This chap has some good rhymes and killer flow. I kid you not.

Jimito
Jimito

As expected, Bezema really came through on this jam. His verse seemed so effortless. At some point, he said, “Class 5 science ilikua na njaro kutuonyesha vagina ndani ya daro,” and I could not believe my ears.

Notably, the beat on this jam is also on point. More than anything, this is what will make you miss the early and mid 2000s when Genge was gaining popularity. Props to the producer – Son of Ojuka.

Khaligraph Jones calls out hypocrites in new jam dubbed ‘Me Siogopi’ featuring Lamaz Span (Video)

Rapper Brian Ouko Omollo, better known as Khaligraph Jones, is back with a new jam featuring his equally-talented brother Lamaz Span K.O.B and they are not mincing their words.

Also read: Khaligraph Jones has no competitor in Kenya

In the song dubbed Me Siogopi, which loosely translates to ‘I don’t fear’, the two rappers blast hypocrites in the local entertainment industry while making a boastful statement that they are the real OGs.

Among the casualties are the legendary DJ Pinye. According to Khaligraph, he killed the music industry and told him not to rap in English because he was not brought up in Karen.

Khaligraph also took a swipe at Homeboyz Radio over their disputed list of the top 50 rappers in Kenya. He says that the station doesn’t respect him because he was not ranked at number 1.

Khaligraph Jones and Lamaz Span
Khaligraph Jones and Lamaz Span

He says, “HBR nangoja mnipigie simu mniambie pole, hio top 50 mlitoa inaonyesha vizuri hamkufika hata college, ju ka si Khali ndio number 1  Inaonyesha vile mmedharau jina, freestyle zangu ndo  Most viewed on your channel na bado mnakosa heshima.”

Apart from all the shade that he threw, you have to admit that Khaligraph had some dope bars in this jam. The way I see it, Me Siogopi is a masterpiece that is worth

Lamaz Span also came through in this jam. I was really impressed by his delivery. If you ask me, I’ll tell you that it is just a matter of time before he becomes a household name.

The beat on this jam, which was produced by Motif, was also awesome. I was particularly impressed by how it blends well with the flow of Papa Jones.

The video concept was also on point. It has some heavily built men flexxing around and sending a clear message that they do not fear anyone. To add to that, the editing was also awesome. Props to Nezzoh Monts!

Hopekid has teamed up with Khaligraph Jones on ‘Testimony’ and we love it (Video)

Gospel singer Simon Peter Wambua, better known has Hopekid, has dropped a new jam with Khaligraph Jones and it’s totally worth your time.

Also read: The gospel industry needs to find a new sound

The song dubbed Testimony talks about acknowledging and praising God for all the great things that he has done in our lives. (At least that’s how I understood it.)

Hopekid demonstrates his versatility once again in this song. If you listen to it, you’ll appreciate his ability to switch from ordinary singing to this reggae vibe. I really love it.

Khaligraph Jones and Hopekid; they have a new jam titled Testimony.
Khaligraph Jones and Hopekid

He also did a great job on the hook. Chances are, you’ll memorize it the first time you listen to this song. It goes like, “(Apewe sifa leo ooo eeeeh eeeeh*2), wacha aitwe Mungu uuuh huuuh mmmmh.” That’s it.

As expected, Khaligraph Jones also nailed it on this jam. His verse was dope. In it, he says how God has transformed his life by giving him money, cars, a child and what have you.

The video concept is simple but I feel it works for this kind of song. The scene transitioning and color coordination is also awesome. Props to Ricky Bekko

It goes without saying that the audio producer, Yo Alex, also did a good job. However, if we are being honest, you will agree with me that the beat sounds the same like other Kenyan gospel songs but then again maybe it’s just me.

Bey T is dropping heavy bars on her latest jam ‘Nineteen’ and you should listen to it (Audio)

Upcoming female rapper Bey T, who got tongues wagging after dropping a dope verse in Khaligraph’s Khali Cartel 3, has released a new jam and it’s totally worth your time.

In the song dubbed Nineteen, the sultry lass talks about how she’s trying to make the best out of this year (2019) and how much she’s achieved at her age (19). You get it?

I’m always impressed every time I listen to a jam by Bey T because if she decides to sing, she can really sing and if it’s drop bars, no one can beat her. Yup, no one.

She really came through in her latest jam. As I was listening to it, I had to convince myself that she is Kenyan like me because, let’s be honest, this kind of talent is rare.

For most people, the first few seconds determine whether they will like a song or not and in this case, you are wowed from the moment you hit the play button.

This jam is so soft and sweet yet very addictive because Bey T decided to drop a rap verse in it and that kind of spices it up.

The beat also works for this song. It blends well with her voice and lyrics. Everything was  well put together because you just want to keep listening to this jam.

The way I see it, it is only a matter of time before this young rapper, who is often referred to as the female version of Nasty C, takes over the world. Watch out for her.

Listen to Nineteen below and tell us what you think.

MCSK should be transparent with artists

I have been following the drama that has pitted the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) against local artists over the last two weeks and I realized a couple of things that I thought I should share with you.

First, it’s pretty obvious that MCSK failed at dissemination of information. You see, most artists received Ksh. 2530 from the body and they didn’t really know what the money was for and this led them to conclude that it was payment for their songs.

However, if MCSK had made them understand that the money was distributed evenly to the 14,000 members of the body as a flat payment i.e. by virtue of belonging to the organisation, I don’t think any of them would have come out to protest.

When the storm started brewing, MCSK explained that the money that most artists had received was for being a member of the organisation. They also told artists that they would get their royalties in October. However, it was too little too late.

Secondly, MCSK needs to be transparent with artists because this tiff about royalties has existed since the early 2000s when the body was formulated. I can still remember the day Poxy Presha staged a protest while demanding his dues.

Artists should get a breakdown of their royalties to see how the final amount that they are getting was arrived at. Otherwise, we’ll continue seeing situations where they wait for artists to raise a red flag and then they are given more money.

Timmy Tdat

Lastly, MCSK should create a portal where artists can log in and update their new songs. As things are now, an artist has to go to their offices, presumably with a CD, to let the body know that they has a new song. Why is this still happening in 2019?

After winning the hearts of Kenyans, they both decided to shift their focuses to the international audiences i.e. potential fans outside the country.

This journey has seen them go out of their ways to work with some of the best audio producers and videographers because let’s be honest, how can you compete against the likes of AKA, Sarkodie, and Nasty C if you don’t invest in good quality?

Of late, the music videos that are being released by Khaligraph and Octopizzo are of high quality and  you could easily say that they meet international standards.

In as much as we appreciate the efforts that are being made by the two rappers, we’d still like to find out who between them has more international appeal.

To help you decide, we’ll ask you to compare two of their most recent releases that’s Kanye by Octopizzo and Leave Me Alone by Khaligraph Jones.

Kenya’s youngest rapper Juala Superboy has dropped ‘Faya’ and it’s a hit (Video)

Have you ever heard of a 6-year-old rapper from Mathare who goes by the name Juala Superboy?

If you don’t know about him, then you don’t have a clue about what you are missing because this Class 2 pupil is very talented.

He became a household name when he dared Khaligraph Jones to a rap battle and actually zoned him. Okay, he let him win.

Now that you have some background, you’ll be pleased to know that this gifted lad is back with a new song.

Dubbed Faya, the jam is about how Juala Superboy is such a badass rapper so much so that other musicians are afraid of him.

In the song he says, “Wanajua mimi ni mbaya, wanajua mimi ni faya wanajua mimi ni mbaya wasanii hadi wanagwaya.”

His delivery is really on point in this song. I just wish that he could write his own songs so that we can asses his prowess.

The video concept was really good. Juala Superboy really looks like a superstar and you would even forget that he’s only 6.

I honestly can’t wait to see what more he has to offers as years fly by.

Akothee Vs Size 8 Vs Fena Gitu: Who is the best stage performer?

A few weeks ago, we had a poll where we asked you to pick whose concert you would attend among Willy Paul, Khaligraph Jones and Timmy Tdat and get value for your money because, let’s face it, we all attend gigs to be entertained.

I later realized that I had not featured any female artist on that poll and that’s why I decided to do a female version of it to see who you think can really own the stage from a list of three of the most sought after Kenyan female artists i.e. Akothee, Fena Gitu and Size 8.

Having watched performances of all the three, I think they all have it in them. You will definitely have the time of your life if you attend their. events. However, today we’d like to pit them against each other to see who you would settle on if you had to pick only one.

Akothee

As you would expect, Esther Akoth, alias Akothee, is really energetic when she is on stage. Put simply, she knows how to own it. From the well-choreographed moves with her dances to her ability to improvise to how she engages the crowd, you will be left begging for more.

Fena Gitu

Unlike the other two, Fena is not jumpy on stage but that does not necessarily mean that she’s boring. Apart from having good crowd control skills, the Steam hit maker also oozes swagger when she’s on stage and maybe, just maybe this is why her fans really love her.

Size 8

Linet Munyali, alias Size 8, has always been known to be a great performer. In my opinion, that has not changed even after she crossed over to the gospel industry. Apart from being flexible and energetic, the Mateke hit maker also knows how to interact with the crowd.

That being said, who are you willing to put your money on? According to you, who is the best stage performer among the three? Tell us below.

Kenyans should take Stivo Simple Boy seriously

Sometimes I wonder whether Kenyans, especially artists, take Steven Otieno, alias Stevo Simple Boy, seriously or they just want to associate with him because he’s the talk of the town.

In as much as his songs need a bit of polishing, I still feel that he’s very talented. He has it in him. He really does.

However, for one reason or the other people have turned him into a butt  of jokes and fail to appreciate the fact that he is a gifted singer.

To add to that, his songs have a message which is not the case with many Kenyan artists because let’s be honest, when was the last time someone released a song that tells you to avoid drugs?

Stevo Simple Boy with Naiboi
Stevo Simple Boy with Naiboi

A few weeks ago, Khaligraph said the same thing that people just want to associate with him and have him on their shows to boost their ratings but no one really wants to help him.

Truth is, Stevo Simple Boy was discovered roughly 7 weeks ago but to this very day we have not seen any collabo with all the big artists who have posed for photos with him.

This begs a lot of questions, it makes you wonder what they think of him and whether they would go the extra mile to ensure that his talent does not go to waste.

If continue to think of him as a joke, then he won’t be relevant in three months because Kenyans forget very fast.
