Tanzanian Singer Mbosso Reacts After Fans Grill Him for cross-dressing

Tanzanian singer Mbosso has reacted after fans grilled him for wearing a dera, a traditional Swahili dress, to a recent performance.

Mbosso was wearing a yellow dera, white sneakers, and white sunglasses when he performed at the Wasafi Festival in Mbeya, Tanzania, over the weekend.

When asked about his dress code, Mbosso said that he would not advise men to wear like that. However, he also said that he was not trying to start a fashion trend and was simply wearing what he felt comfortable in.

Some fans have praised Mbosso for his courage and for challenging traditional gender roles. Others have criticized him for wearing a dress, saying that it is not appropriate for men.

Mbosso’s decision to wear a dera has sparked a debate about gender roles and fashion in Tanzania. It is a reminder that fashion is a form of self-expression and that people should be free to wear whatever they like, regardless of their gender.

“Ni kweli nina ugonjwa wa kutetemeka” Mbosso talks about strange illness

WCB Singer Mbosso has come out to talk about his strange illness; that has left him with unstable hands since he was born. Not really unstable, but shaking or rather trembling hands which he has had to deal with since he was a young boy.

Speaking during an interview with Wasafi FM; Mbosso admitted to having the illness that often leaves many concluding that he is a junky. According to Mbosso, his former bosses ‘Mkubwa na wanae‘ was forced to seek medical help; as they also assumed Mbosso was a low key addict.

However after several drug tests, it was revealed that the singer was clean and not on drugs as many assumed. During the interview, Mbosso opened up saying;

“Kipindi naingia Mkubwa na Wanae Viongozi wangu walidhani kuna vitu natumia Kutokana na kutetemeka kwangu . Nilijaribu kwenda kwa wataalamu Lakini Wakaniambia kuwa huu ni Ugonjwa wangu wa Kuzaliwa hivyo siwezi kupona”

Unlucky

Apart from the shaking disorder, Mbosso says that he feels that life has always been unlucky for him. Even after making it in life, the singer says that love is one of those things that have been dodging him for years.

According to love singer, every single lady he has come across; and dated always ends up getting married to another man. Call it a curse or unlucky but Mbosso says love may be one of those things he was never meant to have in life.

Indeed this comes as a big surprise considering his touchy love songs that have seen him win fans from Eastern Africa and other countries.

We can however not forget the fact that most of his baby mamas have dubbed him as a player; which might just explain why most women walk out on him every now and then.

“I had to prove I could sing,” Mbosso recalls how failed performance badly cost him

Wasafi artiste, Mbosso Khan had his fair share of embarrassing moments before he perfected his art as a musician.

Taking us back in time, the Tanzanian singer-songwriter recalled days when he would perform so hard on stage, only for technical faults to mess up his concerts.

This is not something fans easily understand because to them; an artist announces an upcoming show, asks fans to buy tickets and watch them stage stellar performances, only for it to end up as a total fail.

Bongo Flava artist, Mbosso

Fateful day

So there was this particular event in 2018 where Mbosso had everything in place – his band, his crew…everything.

But soon as his performance kicked in, sound technical issues arose unknown to him, so he continued with the performance only for it to later emerge that no one even heard what he was singing.

In 2018, I did a show at a film gig. It didn´t go as I expected and I had really invested in the performance, the band and everything. But the sound really messed up and I was seen like I sang badly. People who are in music know that there are monitors that weren´t there and so I sang flat. If they are not there you won´t listen to what you are singing so when you sing, you think people aren´t hearing you while you are actually shouting.

Wasafi artiste, Mbosso

His disappointed fans and the kind of embarrassment he had staged that day, only caused him a sleepless night.

I was really insulted. I slept at night crying like a baby.

However, it is in failing that we learn. The Sonona singer urged fellow artists not to lose hope even when they fall because it is in failing that you gain experience and grow your talent.

Today, Mbosso has turned out to become one of the celebrated and successful artists in Bongo land. Having worked on hits like: La Vie alongside Tanasha Donna, Hodari, Tamba among others.

I apologized and asked them to understand that that was just a musical accident. Later, I proved to people that I could sing with a band. You need to learn from all these things that happen. Next time you learn to do better.

The song dubbed Haijakaa Sawa, which loosely translates to ‘it’s not okay’, has been ruling the airwaves since it was released a few hours ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it.

Mbosso

From my understanding, this track is about a man who is trying to assure his partner that although things seem hard at the moment, the future is bright and their troubles will one day come to an end.

Mbosso tells the lady to stop frowning and not to get worried when he comes back home with a nasty temper because things will get better with time.

Although I am not a huge fan of Bongo music, I must admit that I totally love this song. The first reason is because it carries a very powerful message which is hope and perseverance.

Mbosso

The other reason is very obvious and that is the fact that Mbosso has amazing vocals. You just want to keep listening to him as he sings because you kind of get the feeling like the message he is passing comes from his heart.

To add to that, he also knows how to control his voice. Notably, the beat and instrumentation on this jam are also on point since they make the song catchy and blend well with Mbosso’s style, vibe and tempo.

Listen to Haijakaa Sawa below and tell us what you think. Enjoy!

Goals! Mbosso surprises his parents with a new sleek ride worth millions

Having been brought up by two parents who hustled all their lives to ensure their children don’t sleep hungry; Singer Mbosso is grateful for all the experiences that helped build the man he is today.

For those who don’t know; Mbosso’s childhood, teenage-hood and adulthood were not so easy since his parents did not have money to support a good lifestyle. However growing up in the ghettos contributed to his sharpness and ability to understand the power of money years later.

“Comment “Amini Inshaallah” kama unaamini Kuna siku utatimiza ndoto yako yakuwapatia zawadi Yoyote Wazazi wako ” ????

Well let’s hope that he will not be walking out of WCB anytime soon; since he will be forced to sell all these expensive gifts, just like Harmonize did to pay back Diamond Platnumz.

“I have tried to love again, but I can’t ” Mbosso pens moving letter to his late baby mama as the world celebrates Valentines Day!

Wasafi records singer Mbosso is still healing after losing his baby mama, the late Martha last year.

According to reports, the late Martha passed on after a short illness; and Mbosso went on to add that she had complained about a headache – only for him to be called and told that she had passed on.

The late Martha

Despite Martha’s family denying that their daughter had a son with Mbosso; the singer continues to insist (with evidence) that he had a son with the late female comedian.

Valentines Day message

As the world marks the day of love, Mbosso has also remembered his baby mama who was the love of his life.

In a well detailed post shared on his page, Mbosso went on to reveal how hard life has been him after losing Martha. He says that things have not been the same and even when he tries to move on; something always holds him back. He wrote;

Aslay speaks about his alleged beef with Mbosso

Tanzanian singers Aslay and Mbosso are said to have beef over unknown issues.

This comes a surprise since the two young men worked together as a team back when they were part of Yamoto band. However after the group split up so did the members in real life.

Speaking about the alleged beef a while back, Mbosso opened up saying that Aslay never supported him through out his career. For this reason he felt that there was no need of having a one sided friendship and decided to unfollow him on Instagram. Mbosso opened up saying;

Baada ya kumsupport Aslay kwa muda mrefu watu wakawa wananimbia mbona wewe unam-support halafu yeye haku-support? Umem-follow mwenzako ameku-unfollow. Jifunze kubalance shobo, nikasema kumbe na mimi naonekana namshobokea ngoja na mimi nim-unfollow. Kwa hiyo sasa hivi kila mtu hana urafiki na mwenzake

Aslay’s shares his side of the story

During his recent media tour in Kenya, Aslay was asked to share about his alleged beef with Mbosso and why they never see eye to eye anymore.

The Muhudumu hitmaker went on to say;

When asked why he has not been releasing new projects, Aslay concluded by saying;

Mwisho was siku nlishauriwa na baadhi ya watu mdogo wetu umeshatoa nyimbo kiasi; kwamba unaeza fanya show kila siku kwa nini usikae kwanza nawe ukabadikisha mzki wako kidogo. Ndio maana tena nilivyo rudi nikarudi na nyang’anyang’a

Susumila features Wasafi’s Mbosso in new love ballad dubbed “Sonona” its breathtaking

Remember that time you first fell in love and thought that person and you were meant to be together forever? Well, Kenyan Mombasa based artists Susumila has featured one of Wasafi’s best  Mbosso in a new love ballad dubbed  “Sonona”.

A day after Mbosso had just dropped another beautiful song with his boss’s baby mama Tanasha Dona he now is working with Susumila.

Is he warming himself to our hearts? For me whichever way it’s still okay because the lad can sing and also write.

At the same time, we cannot dismiss Sususmila’s effort in the music industry of Kenya especially coming from the coast of Kenya. Being a veteran in the industry, Susumila has proven that consistency pays.

Sonona

This is a  song that elicits all sorts of emotions, down from memories to fantasies. Susumila seems to be on a spree to give us juicy music by all means and well the spice is Mbosso and that we appreciate.

Mbosso and Susumila

Sonona is a song that revolves around a man so in love that he sings out his fantasies. Well, we all have our fantasies.

The passion in the song is so emotive that it rekindles the love feelings from the word go.

The best thing about the Mocco produced jam is that the artist understood what they were delivering to their audience.

Lyrics

Looking at the lyrics the song starts with Mbosso describing how he feels about the woman he once loved.

Especially when he says, Siku moja moja ,Ukipata nafasi tukumbukane, Nitalipa bodaboda,Acha na mwendo kasi usijibanebane. I know you are also getting all a giddy remembering how it feels.

He pours his heart out on how much he loves his girl, and that without her he feels sad “Sonona”. With the little Swahili I remember Sonona is sadness.

After all the emotional shares, Susumila comes in the second verse with caution in being in love. Susumila asks his woman to take care of his heart he begs her metaphorically not to play with his heart.

He says,”…..Hakuna asiyejua,Matatizo ya moyo ukipenda, Unanifanya mwanasesere,Kunichezesha…..” Its a beautiful rendition that should work for valentines day.

Production

The song was produced by Mocco Genius in conjunction with 001 Music, WCB Wasafi records.Lest we forget the visuals to the song were also beautifully done. Clearly we’d want more. Your take?

For rating I will go with 8/10.

Tanasha Donna features WCB’s Mbosso in new love ballad ‘La Vie’ (Video)

Talented Kenyan songstress and radio personality Tanasha Donna Oketch has released her first track in 2020 and it happens to be a collabo with none other than Wasafi Classic signee Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi alias Mbosso.

The song titled La Vie, which are French words that mean for life, is off her Extended Play (EP) Donatella which will be launched in Nairobi on January 31.

Tanasha Donna and Mbosso
Tanasha Donna and Mbosso

Basically, this track is about is about two people who are deeply in love and they are not shy to express how they feel about each other.

La Vie has been topping continental charts since it was released a few days ago and it has so far garnered more than 400,000 views on YouTube. However, this doesn’t really come as a surprise seeing how well arranged it is.

This jam is versed in French, Swahili and English and as you are all aware, you can never go wrong with the first two languages since when it comes to matters of the heart. Isn’t that true though?

I have listened to La Vie a couple of times since it came out and every time it as if I am listening to it for the very first time. Yup, it’s that good. Believe you me, it’s really infectious.

Tanasha Donna
Tanasha Donna

Don’t even get me started on Tanasha and Mbosso’s voices. The way these two sing, you’d easily assume that they are in love with each other because it’s so surreal.

Notably, the instrumentation and beat on La Vie are really dope but I wasn’t expecting anything less seeing as it was produced by the one and only S2Kizzy and mastered by Ayo Lizer.

Director Kenny from Zoom Extra also did a good job on the visuals for this song. From the set up to the model to the choice of colours and scene transitioning, everything was impeccable.

Mbosso kicks of the year with ‘Ate’ and it’s getting mad love (Video)

Award-winning Tanzanian singer Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi, popularly known as Mbosso, has released a new jam and it’s rocking the airwaves.

The song dubbed Ate has been getting a lot of love since it dropped a few days ago and to be honest we are also really feeling it. Like, really!

Ate is a love ballad and as you know too well Wasafi Classic singers can never go wrong when it comes to pouring out the lasses that they have their eyes set on.

Mbosso has a new tune dubbed 'Shilingi' featuring Reekado Banks
Mbosso

In the jam, Mbosso says he’s willing to go out of his way to show the lass how much she means to him. From teaching her how to love to touring the world with her.

He also references Diamond Platnumz’ relationship with NRG Radio presenter Tanasha Donna saying that he would want to have a relationship like theirs.

Just like many of the songs from Wasafi Classic Records, Ate has some sexual innuendos. However, Mbosso does not talk about it directly.

Apart from the fact that it is a beautiful composition, the other thing that makes this jam stand out is Mbosso’s voice, this guy can really sing and you can tell that it’s coming from the heart.

The beat and instrumentation was also dope. They get you hooked from the moment you hit the play button so much so that you might have this song on replay for a whole month without even noticing it.

The video was impeccable. It paints a visual picture of what he’s singing about and helps you contextualize the jam. It was also has some great shots. Props to the videographer.

Watch Ate below and tell us what you think.

Kenyan musicians have so much to learn from their Tanzanian counterparts

I’m not a fan of Bongo music. I only listen to Tanzanian songs when I have to, for instance when I am doing a review or when they are randomly played at a club, party or in a matatu.

Also read: Why it’s hard for artists to be consistent

On the flip side, I admire so many Tanzanian artists not for any other reason but because they really work their asses off. I could list them but their names would take up all this space. So, I’ll save you the agony.

WCB arists
WCB artists

Bongo music has always been big deal  not only in Tanzania but across the continent and it’s bout time we – or rather our artists – borrowed a leaf from them.

They should ask themselves questions like,”What can we learn from Tanzanian musicians?”, “What areas should we work on?” and “What are they doing differently?”

One of the Bongo artists that I really admire, just like most of you is Diamond Platnumz. Despite being accomplished and all, he has never been content with his success. He keeps pushing each and every day.

Since the year begun he has released more than 30 songs, perhaps more, including collabos. As a result, he is always at the top of people’s minds.

Khaligraph Jones
Khaligraph Jones

It always seems like he is a pacesetter for the Tanzanian music industry since most people – including his stablemates – like Rayvanny, Lava Lava, Mbosso and Queen Darleen want to keep up with him.

The local music industry lacks a someone who keeps artists on their toes as is the case with Tanzania and this means that very few musicians, if any, give a hoot about consistency.

The truth is that people get bored very fast. I doubt if any of the people who are reading this article can have a jam in their playlists for more than a week and this means that artists need to release more music. There is no other way.

Many of you will be quick to point out that new age artists such as; Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, Ochunglo Family, 34 GVNG, Gwaash, etc. are constantly releasing music but let’s be honest, that is not serious music.

Nadia Mukami
Nadia Mukami

In as much as we find the songs by these youngins catchy, they rarely transcend our borders. It’s what it is. To add to that, the quality is always wanting.

I’m talking about the likes of Nyashinski, Nadia Mukami, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, King Kaka, Redsan, Nameless, Jua Cali, Avril etc. Will they ever wake up from their deep slumber? If so, when? Enough said.

Mbosso explains why he couldn’t work with Sauti Sol in his new song ‘Shilingi’

Tanzanian singer Mbosso has come out to reveal why he didn’t feature Sauti Sol in his new jam “Shilling” which was recently released.

Speaking in an interview, the singer revealed why he went for Nigerian artiste Reekado Banks instead of the Kenyan band.

“Before the collabo, I spoke to four artistes. I remember I even texted Rudeboy but Reekadoh told me how he loved my music,” he said.

“I sent him the song that I was supposed to do with Sauti Sol. They were busy, so when I went to Kenya to shoot the video, I told them that Reekado  had already done his verse.”

Collabo

Mbosso added that though that opportunity passed, he’s still pushing for another collabo with them.

“Sauti Sol understood and we have another project with them, so expect something big,” he said.

“It is my first collabo to feature someone since I started working with WCB. Most of the time, I have been featured instead.”

Mbosso’s ‘Maajab’ doing better in the Kenyan coast

Mbosso’s ‘Maajab’ doing better in Kenyan coast.  It is evident that the song has had a good feel in the coastal areas in Kenya and also globally. The singer signed under Wasafi records has been posting clips from the region of people playing his work.

The song which is done is a Swahili setting has been on their airwaves since it’s release. Although it was done a month ago, it does not grow old to many.

In my own thinking, I feel that Mbosso is the only Wasafi artist who will go far. Do you want to know why? This is because he has content and message in his work.

Although the Kenyan coast has a lot of musicians who do Bongo music, they all do not hit but look at this guy and the love he is getting from the place. Come on Kenyans let’s also support our own the likes of Dazlah and Brown Mauzo.

The song which has over 2 million views is the talk of town. But we need to appreciate talent and on this one he did a good thing. Why can’t the Kenyan government get one of own out of Tanzania. I know this is crazy…

You know that something is good from the fans.. Some screenshots from Mbosso’s Instagram account tell it all.

This man Mbosso has a way of marketing his songs and a voice that wins the hearts of many. There are also videos and screenshots of people dancing to Maajab. There is so much love from this jam.

The Jam Maajab has got some great love too from youtube lovers. This is just so much for one person. You are going to realize that most of his fans are from +254.

Anyway, may the best team win. But also lets also grow our own like we are doing to our brothers and sisters from Tanzania. I believe Brown Mauzo’s new jam Aniote is so close to Mbosso’s Maajab.

Tanzanian singer Mbosso forced to explain why he did not perform in Malindi

Kenyans during the long Easter weekend were pissed off by Tanzanian singer Mbosso after he failed to show up in a highly anticipated concert in Malindi.

Mbosso was to perform over the Easter weekend but cancelled his scheduled show at the Malindi festival leaving many complaining and demanding a refund.

On social media, the singer shared that he had to skip performing because of a disagreement with the organisers.

“Early this morning I posted a video of me traveling from Dar Es Salaam heading to Malindi. I was so excited to come and entertain my fans from Malindi but things did not go as planned.. the event planners did not fulfill their end of the bargain in terms of payments. They went against what they had agreed with my management and so they did not allow me to perform,” he said on social media.

Apology

The WCB artiste becomes the second to fail to perform after Harominze alleged that he wasn’t paid the full agreed amount in Eldoret. He apologized for not taking stage and asked the organisers to be professional.

“To my fans, I am very sorry especially to those that came from so far to enjoy a good night with me. I feel bad but I had no otherwise. the truth is the planners did not want nor show any form of interest in paying the balance as per the agreement with my management team. To the organizers, always try and pay artistes, as you’re affecting our relationship with our fans,” he said.

Boss moves! ‘Hodari wa mapenzi’ hit maker shows off his multimillion house

Singer Mbosso seems to be doing quite well after being signed under Wasafi records.

Well, after Yamoto Band split up, the singer got a chance to work with Diamond Platnumz and from the look of things, he is doing way better now.

Just like Harmonize and Rayvanny – singer Mbosso has joined the league of singers who own their own properties thanks to their hard work.

Through his Instagram page the singer shared a couple of photos and videos flaunting his new home.

Wasafi’s star

Judging from the number of hit songs Mbosso has been dropping since joining Wasafi proves that he could be the new WCB’s star.

Anyway check out photos of his house below.

Dogo Aslay could soon dethrone Diamond as Tanzania’s biggest music star

Isihaka Nassoro, alias Dogo Aslay is one of the Yamoto members whose star has continued to shine even after the band broke up. The other of course is Mbosso who is under the wings of Diamond Platunumz.

Dogo Aslay

However, it does not really come as a surprise that Aslay is still excelling in music. Before Yamoto was formed in 2013, the 24-year-old singer already had a number one single dubbed Naenda Kusema. The song was released in 2011.

After the band broke up, Aslay was rumoured to be joining Wasafi Records but that didn’t materialize. However, that didn’t affect his career as a solo artist as it picked up almost immediately.

He has several songs to his name including; Hautegeki, Mario, Anankomoa, Kwa Raha, Tatoa, Hauna, Pusha, Baby, Likizo, Nibebe, Usitie Doa, Angekuona, Subalkheri Mpenzi and Natamba.

However, my all time favourite is Muhudumu. This song always play in my head when I am at a club. One day I’ll gather the courage to tell the waiter, “Muhudumu ongeza glass” in Aslay’s voice. I digress.

A few days ago, Aslay dropped yet another single dubbed Nyang’anyang’a and, as expected, the song is performing well on the charts.

I love the song. Everything was executed well. The beat is very catchy, the visual is also good. What else do you expect when Justin Campos is the video director? Nothing but class!

At this point, I’d dare say that Dogo Aslay could soon dethrone Diamond Platunumz as Tanzania’s best singer.
