“He didn’t commit suicide, he was killed!” − Papa Dennis Ex−manager

Three years after the once-vibrant gospel performer Papa Dennis passed away, Joseph Msanii, better known as Dr. Msanii, the singer’s former manager, claims foul play was involved in the singer’s demise.

The details of Papa Dennis’s death are still unknown, however preliminary police investigations stated that the musician committed what appeared to be a suicide after he fell from a Pangani apartment block on Friday, February 7, 2020.

“Papa Dennis was killed; he did not commit suicide. He was killed by the industry cartels who were after his fortunes. Towards his last days Papa Dennis had landed a deal worth millions from Ufanisi Foundation in Kibera to work on a Cancer Awarness campaign project. He had also landed a deal with Kakamega county on a Cancer campaign again. I was at the center of all these deals. Why would he kill himself just when these juicy deals were about to materialize?”

There are still little details around what precisely happened before he passed away, but Dr. Msanii claims that his childhood friend, the gospel star, was murdered.

“If indeed he killed himself, why is that there was no witness to collaborate the events leading to his death? The narrative that he jumped to his death from the 7th floor of the Pangani building doesn’t make sense,”

Dr. Msanii’s account claims that Papa Dennis fell prey to a well-thought-out scheme by “industry cartels” who were pursuing his money.

According to Dr. Msanii’s admission at the time, Papa Dennis was facing financial difficulties as a result of leaving the Maliza Umaskini Record label in 2018, which was the cause of his opulent lifestyle.

“Who saw him go up to the 7th floor? How did they know it was the 7th floor? No one came out to say they saw him go up. For him to access the balcony of that floor, which was away from the studio to throw himself, he must have had to pass through another resident’s sitting room, go to the bedroom, and eventually end up at the balcony.

Until today, there is no witness to attest to this. Better yet, even if he were to throw himself from the rooftop of the building, he had to open the gate to the rooftop, which police found closed at the time of his death. So, how exactly did he jump off the balcony?”

According to him, the artist intended to use the proceeds from the two deals he had secured to turn his life around and was on track to get back on his feet.

Dr. Msanii offers an additional interpretation, stating that the postmortem revealed injuries consistent with an assault on Papa Dennis rather than a fall.

“An hour later after his death, the owner of the studio called the producer to inform him of the news that Papa Dennis had jumped to his death.

He sustained a blood clot on one side of his head, a fracture on his left ribs, and a broken leg. The injuries suggest that a blunt object struck him on the head, and in an attempt to shield himself with his hand, the same object hit his ribs.

It’s puzzling because if he had fallen as claimed, there should have been multiple fractures, yet most of his bones remained intact. Additionally, his phone, a potential piece of evidence, was never recovered; it seems his assailants took it to conceal any traces,”

6 Kenyan creatives who died under mysterious circumstances in 2020!

The Kenyan entertainment scene has been in mourning since the year started after 2019 wrapped up with one of Kenya’s brilliant, young creative, Ayeiya losing his life in a tragic road accident.

Just as we thought 2020 was going to be any kind, I’ll be honest, if anything it has been severely brutal, unwelcoming of the fact that we are still healing from the wounds of those we had already lost.

I start in order since we ushered in the new year.

1. Razz Msupa

Razz was a popular Kenyan rapper having worked with legendary artists like King Kaka before she bid us goodbye on February 4.

3. Ken Walibora

Renowned author and respected journalist Prof Ken Walibora’s death on April 10, left Kenyans with unanswered questions, speculations rife that he was murdered into his grave.

Prof Ken Walibora speaking at a past function

It was reported he got knocked down by a speeding Double M bus while hurriedly crossing the road in what seemed like a chase by street boys, that left the question “why?” unanswered.

Only for autopsy results to later show that the wound on his right hand was caused by a sharp object and not by a blunt object as earlier alleged. Plus, what was more puzzling was what the 56-year old author was doing in Muthurwa on a chilly Saturday morning.

Either way, may he rest peacefully!

4. Kasee

Known for his budding antics on Churchill Show, we lost Kasee born Joseph Musyoki Kivindu on Sunday, June 28 with claims he had been battling depression before it drove him to his death.

One lesson we can all learn from Papa Dennis’ death

About a fortnight ago, Kenyans were shocked when they learnt that gospel singer Dennis Mwangi, popularly known as Papa Dennis, had jumped to his death in Nairobi’s Pangani Estate.

Also read: Stop asking musicians what else they do!

What was astounding was not even how he died but the fact that he had been sleeping in the studio after his landlord locked him out of his rented apartment and he could not even afford to feed himself.

The truth is, the Papa Dennis that we all knew was filthy rich, or at least we thought so. The guy would often be seen flaunting wads of cash on social media, showing off his posh home, driving luxurious cars, name it.

Papa Dennis
Papa Dennis

The Nashukuru hitmaker even had collabos with the likes of Chidinma, Korede Bello, Flavour, Ray C, just to name a few. Anyone can tell you just don’t wake up one morning and get on a track with these artists.

I have immense respect for the dead but it does not make sense. Did he squander all his money or was he living a lie because his story does not make sense however hard you try to understand it.

There are rumors that his problems began after he parted ways with his promoter Sadat Muhindi who is the founder of Maliza Umaskini Foundation but we won’t talk about that today because it’s hearsay.

Papa Dennis

However, one thing that we can talk about and I’m hoping we can all learn a lesson from is living your truth or being yourself. This applies to celebrities, politicians and everyone – you and me.

You see, there is no need going around telling people that you are filthy wealthy and how your life is glamorous but it really isn’t. I don’t know why people even do that.

You see, eventually the truth will come out and people will hate you for being a fraud when you could have just lived a normal life like the rest of us who are not deep pocketed. Hi Kobi Kihara! Okay, that was not really necessary.

More and more gospel musicians are collaborating with secular artistes, a move that is rubbing many the wrong way, and has been said to be a betrayal to God.

I was beaten by 20 men after collobrating with Jimmy Gait- Papa Dennis

Gospel singer Papa Dennis has come out to share the tough journey he faced as an upcoming gospel artist. The singer, who is now shooting music videos worth millions and millions of shillings was at one time earning a salary of only Ksh 4000 shillings.

I was supposed to go shoot the Makekes video in South Africa the following week and it’s at this point that I felt like giving up. I went into prayer and God fought for me,” he said.

The video was  shot in South Africa by Godfather Productions – a professional production company in South Africa which specializes in filming and production of TV commercials and music videos.

It’s not clear whether Papa Dennis has quit gospel music altogether, because ‘Tornado’ sounds more of a romantic song than a gospel song.

Speaking during an interview with Pulse, Papa Dennis revealed that people have no reason to question where he gets his money from.

According to him, he has always worked hard to get where he is and for this reason, people should focus on other things. He said;

“Why should money be such a big talk? I mean, money is just but a means to a cause.”

Sh 50 million is loose change

He went on to compare his wealth to that of Davido and other musicians who have made it big in the industry.

Papa Dennis also adds that Ksh 50 million should not be a big deal since 19 year olds footballers in England make that amount in a week.

“I don’t think Sh50 million is cash we should be discussing as this could even be loose change to a 19-year-old footballer playing in the English Premier League. The cash I have is just like that Davido and the rest of the musicians have. No big deal,”

“I would have parted with 1.2M but they declined the offer” Flamboyant singer tears into Groove Awards after getting snubbed twice

The dust on this year’s Groove Awards Nominations has settled and both nominees and those snubbed have pretty much moved on, after the May 2 nominations.

Willy Paul and Bahati aren’t the only singers to be snubbed again by Groove Awards, gospel singer Papa Dennis also has a bone to pick with the organizers of the premier Gospel Awards event in Kenya.

The ‘Mayaya’ hit-maker has also come out to air his displeasure with the Groove Awards after being snubbed for the 2nd year straight.

Papa Dennis

The singer feels someone at Groove Awards has something personal against him and that this did not start yesterday.

“When I was launching my ‘Wonder’ album in 2015, I approached the organizers of Groove Awards to provide sound – a deal which would have seen me part with KSh1.2M – but they declined the offer,” laments Papa Dennis.

He adds that the last quarter of 2015 and 2016 were his best years as a breakout artiste and surely deserved a nomination slot but none of it came from Groove…but he won the Male Artist of the Year at Mwafaka in 2015 beating Willy Paul and Bahati.

Asked whether he’s just being a cry-baby, the singer vehemently denies arguing that he’s just voicing his concerns and that he has nothing against the awards or its organizers.

This popular kenyan gospel artiste just dropped a new song and he shot not one but two videos for it….one with Indian girls as video vixens(VIDEO)

When it comes to setting standards in music, then expect popular Kenyan gospel artiste Papa Dennis to do it like a boss.

After doing a number of collabos with mega stars like Chidinma and Christina Shusho, the man is back with yet another major hit dubbed Mayaya which is basically a worship and thank you song to God for he has done for the lad.

And just to show us how thankful he was, he decided to shoot not one but two videos for the song which you can view here.

The second one actually consists of Indian girls as video vixens:
