George Ikua celebrates his 10th wedding anniversary to his late wife, Janet Ikua

George Ikua is still slowly learning to accept that his wife Janet Ikua is no more. It has since been 11 months since she passed on but he is proving to be quite strong for their 2 kids.

Just the other day, he celebrated 10 years of his marriage to his late wife despite her not being there to mark the special day with him.

The two got married on March 7th 2008 and This being a year that they would have turned 10 years together; George Ikua could not hold back from remembering his wife in the best possible way.

In his post, George Ikua encouraged couples to love and explore together as everyone is capable of becoming a widow or widower at any given time. He went on to advice them saying;

Create memories, travel by bus, cook her dinner, plant a tree, sing karaoke, walk in the sunset..whatever it is, this is all you will be left with when its all said and done.

He went on to add saying;

As casually as we say in sickness and in health a time a day is coming when you have to be their anchor when their body is broken.

Janet Ikua loses her battle against cancer

The late media personality passed died on 1st April after battling with cancer for years.

She was a true hero who inspired many and till date her legacy is still remembered by her fans!

There is no pain that can beat that of losing a loved one. Well George Ikua understands this pretty well as he lost the love of his life and mother of his children, Janet Ikua kanini who lost her battle against cancer.

It has been three months since this happened and though it may seem like George Ikua and his kids have moved on but it has not been an easy step. Speaking recently during an interview, George opened up about his 4 year old daughter who has been asking about her mum’s whereabouts.

He understands that the she is too young to understand what has been happening and this is a challenge to him. He went on to say,

“Jasmine is only four. She is trying to understand what it means. It is difficult to tell her why her mother cannot come home for just 10 minutes, say hi, and go back to heaven.”

George has however played a big role and is continuing to raise his children as well as keep his late wife’s Kanini 4 Africa Foundation going in her memory.

Janet Ikua’s burial details finally released by her family

It still seems like a bad joke to even imagine that Janet Ikua is no longer with us.

But, this is something we cannot reverse and though it pains her family and close friends…we know that she is now in a better place with no pain but eternal peace until the day she will be reunited with her family.

Details of the burial place and date were however released earlier this week, April 3, by her family moments after George Ikua (the husband) came out to speak two days after his wife’s sudden death.

From what we have gathered, Janet Ikua will be laid to rest on, April 8, at her husband’s home in Naromoru, Nanyuki town.

Friends and family have been gathering at their home church, Nairobi Baptist located along Ngong Road as they continue planning on how to give her a decent send off.

Fans and well-wishers have also been given a chance to send their contributions through the #IstandwithJanet campaign which will help pay off some of the medical debts.

Janet Ikua has left behind two beautiful children Peter and Jasmine who are aware that their mother defeated cancer and is a hero to many who look up to her.

Her husband George, is still coming into terms with the fact that his wife is gone but friends and family are proving to be there for him during this trying time.
