“My brother was okay with dying” Ken Oliech opens about his late brother, Kevin Oliech 

Ken Oliech who is Dennis and the late Kevin Oliech’s big brother recently opened up about the life his brother lived; weeks after the young man was laid to rest in his rural home in Kisumu.

Having lost his battle to cancer, Kevin Oliech’s death indeed came as a big surprise to his family, friends; and the entire Kenyan football fraternity. However having fought the good life, Ken says his brother resting brought peace since they all knew how much pain he was in.

Speaking exclusively to the Nation, Ken who also build his life around football; went on to reveal how his brother  flew to Nairobi from Germany just to be with those he loved. Ken said;

“In December, Kevo (Kevin) briefly travelled to Nairobi; met his childhood friends and intimidated. To them that his health was failing and ‘anything could happen’. It was like he was telling them goodbye.”

He had made peace with death

Having undergone the best treatment he could get in Germany; Ken Oliech says that it got to a point where his brother could no longer take the pain.

Ken went on to add that by the time his small brother took his last breath; the late Kevin Oliech had already made peace with the fact that he was going to die. Speaking about this, Ken went on to say;

He underwent chemotherapy and appeared to have improved, but suddenly his condition deteriorated. Weeks before he passed on, the doctors told us he won’t make it. My brother was okay with that decision. He told me ‘let me rest brother. I will be fine’.”

The late Kevin Oliech finally laid to rest (Photos)

Dennis Oliech’s family this past weekend gave their last born sibling, Kevin Oliech his last send off at their village in Seme, Kisumu county.

As reported Kevin Oliech had been battling with lung cancer; but unfortunately it got to a point of no return after the cancer came back more aggressive after years of treating it!

He however passed on about 2 weeks ago while receiving treatment at a certain hospital back in Germany. Thanks to a photo shared by  his best friend moments before his death, Kevin is seen trying to pull a smile; but his body still appeared to be weak.

Despite trying to keep the burial intimate, Mike Sonko’s presence seems to have ruined things for the Oliech’s family. Not that they complained but seeing how Dennis has been silent on the matter; means he wanted to keep this private but having Mike around made this impossible.

Through his social media pages, Mike Sonko went on to share more information on the burial saying;

Rest easy, Kevin Oliech

In Seme Kisumu County attending the burial of the late Mathare United Stars and Tusker FC Club player Kevin Oliech who succumbed to cancer while receiving treatment in Germany. Kevin was a brother to former Harambee Stars Captain Dennis Oliech, He passed on in Germany last month. I shall continue supporting the Oliech family during this difficult moment. Rest my brother, one day even cancer shall die.

Rallying at a funeral

Although it is disrespectful for politicians to Rally at funerals; Mike Sonko says the people of Seme demanded for him to address them, and of course he did!

After attending the funeral of late footballer Kevin Oliech in Seme, Kisumu County, I made a stop over to address wananchi after they demanded for my address.

In conclusion Mike Sonko said;

I want to thank the people of Kisumu Dala for their warm reception today and I promise to come back again to meet with locals especially the youth. May Kevin’s soul rest in peace.

Dennis oliech and his family are currently in mourning after losing their dear brother, Kevin Opiyo Oliech. As reported the young man is said to have succumbed to cancer after years and months of battling it with different medications.

However on Sunday 16, August Kevin Opiyo Oliech lost his battle; but also won in a way as he was now in a better place, with no pain or suffering. His family and friends already confirmed the sad news of his passing through their social media pages.

Many have praised him for his football skills and those close say he never let cancer take over his life. Despite the pain and challenges of his lung cancer, the late Kevin lived life to the fullest!

Happy memories of the late Kevin Oliech

Although he has left while still young, the photos below will prove that indeed Kevin lived his life to the fullest! He made friends who later on became family and the party life was all the happiness that kept him going.

His teammates from Gor Mahia; and Mathare united have sent out their heartfelt condolences to the Oliech’s family as they go through this hard time. Well, he ran the race and since every soul will taste death, all we can do is remember the family in our prayers.
