Vivianne in mourning following the death of her sister

Singer Vivianne who only recently took to social media with joyous news about her new relationship has once more taken to social media but this time she is in mourning following the loss of her sister to cancer.

Vivianne proved few Kenyan artists are good performers

The singer was heartbroken but she did thank the institution that had held her sister down with regard to health care as she fought the good fight against the disease.

So what exactly is this thing called cancer that claimed Vivianne’s life? Well the short version is:

Vivianne’s Change To Gospel Is Right On Time

Cancer is a disease in which some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body.

Kenyan celebrity artiste, Vivianne

Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Normally, human cells grow and multiply (through a process called cell division) to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells grow old or become damaged, they die, and new cells take their place.

Sometimes this orderly process breaks down, and abnormal or damaged cells grow and multiply when they shouldn’t. These cells may form tumors, which are lumps of tissue. Tumors can be cancerous or not cancerous (benign).

Vivianne proved few Kenyan artists are good performers

Vivianne recently had a performance that was quite honestly as dry as cardboard. A video that surfaced on social media showed her attempting to entertain company executives who were unmoved and unenthused.

Vivianne’s Change To Gospel Is Right On Time

The video featured her singing a dated song, “Chum Chum”, and her stage presence was poor while her energy was all but present. She was moving from one end of the stage to the other attempting to rile up the executives but none of them seemed bothered.

This got us thinking about which Kenyan artist put on the best performances whenever they are live on stage. Vivianne is definitely not one of them. However, Nyashinski is one of the few names that come to mind. Just a Band’s Blinky Bill is another who comes to mind.

But by and large whenever Kenyan artist perform on a stage they are often out of breath, gasping for air or simply walking around and giving the audience commands what to do on in order to enjoy the music. So what you end up with is, “Mikono juu! Wewe rusha mikono juu“.

Singer Vivianne

And while this is an important aspect of hyping up the crowd it is a role that would be better served by a hype man rather than the main artist as it makes the music’s flow disjointed. Vivianne it’s not a bad artist. I happen to like some of her music however we need to progress as a people beyond giving lazy performances.

Vivianne and Azziad’s bizarre beef was about entitlement and envy

When you hear that foreign artists and those in the diaspora make their money off touring, we need to begin to understand just what it takes to make those concerts and 2 is worth as much money as they often are.

Vivianne would be best served by taking Beyonce as a case study. Because when she performs she is a living dynamo. She is moving from one end of the stage to the other not just dancing but performing complex choreography and this serves to heighten the audience’s excitement and engagement in her performance.

“Sam West and I are not in a good place,” Vivianne spills a day after ‘walking down the isle’ for Bahati

Perhaps Kenyan artists need to start by working on their cardiovascular health. This would help them increase their stamina and then be able to actually perform for the better part of their set. It would also help with their singing as they won’t constantly get out of breath and start croaking like frogs. It would also help event planners and corporate steak the industry more seriously as this level of professionalism would be seen as an artist reinvestment into their craft.

Vivianne’s Change To Gospel Is Right On Time

Vivianne has announced to everyone that she is now a gospel artist and contrary to what many think, this is actually not shocking news. The singer is actually right on time for her “dramatic’ switch from secular music. The deciding factor? Age.

“Marriage is not easy” Vivianne shares relationship advice that are actually worth taking

I kid you not, this is actually a well-worn tale. We have seen it at play with Size 8, Wahu, Amani and all the other female artists who finally discovered that they were walking the wrong path and they are now willing to seek God and evangelise.

The funny thing about all this is that just like Vivianne, they were more than willing to use seduction and their sexual appeal to further their career. It was in all their dances and all their songs. They would hit the stage or appear on our TV screens with all the choreographed moves meant to titillate men. Hell, Size 8 used to twerk.

Vivianne and Azziad’s bizarre beef was about entitlement and envy

And while I am not going to disparage people who decide to change their lives and focus on serving God, I am going to call bullshit when it appears to have a pattern. The young singer decides to make music. She focuses her lyrics on women but her gyrations at luring men.

Vivianne

Then Father Time decides to intervene and they are no longer young and lithe. They put on weight they cannot seem to shake off and that is when a lot of Kenya’s female singers decide to turn to Christ. And more often than not, it works. There is a revived energy surging in their new career. And the stories they tell backing up their decision to make the switch are so invigorating.

But why didn’t they make the changes while they still had control over the “male gaze”? Outside of Size 8, I do not know of any other incident in which a Kenyan singer decided to make the switch while still in her prime. When Vivianne was still at the top of her game, she was a sensual singer.

Vivianne
Songbird, Vivianne

No, it was not overt. She was subtle about it. But her songs featured her seducing either the whimsical desire men have for an actual partner who has their back or her sensual appeal. So forgive me for being sceptical about this. Perhaps I am simply one of those “glass half empty” fellas.

Perhaps I am wrong but that is between Vivianne and her God. All I can do is form an opinion based on what I see. And I truly do believe in the mantra that dictates: “watch what they do, not what they say”. And from what I have seen of the pattern in behaviour, I am not wrong.

Vivianne and Azziad’s bizarre beef was about entitlement and envy

Vivianne has unwittingly played out an age old game with Azziad that was not quite interesting but shed a lot of light on entitlement. You see, we already know that Vivianne was wrong for thinking she deserved Azziad’s assistance to push her song simply because they are both female. She was wrong for pointing out that she wanted to perpetuate the Kenyan entertainment scene’s culture of taking advantage of upcoming talents.

“I have made peace with you,” Singer Vivianne speaks up weeks after Azziad Nasenya saga

What many did not however realize is that this was an age old game in which an older female claws her way to the pinnacle of her career and then succumbs to jealousy when she sees that life has moved on and is showering the latest, younger, hotter female star with even more attention. It’s envy.

Vivianne
Singer Vivianne

The Greek’s were aware of this and a lot of their tragedies told circulated around such stories such as that or Athena and Ariadne. It was this envy that we are seeing play out. You see, there were no shortage of approaches Vivianne could have taken to working with Azziad that would have had a more positive outcome.

Singer Vivianne brutally attacked after her unfiltered mean remarks on Internet sensation Azziad Nasenya (Video)

Instead, what we got was an infantile rant that exemplified just how badly the situation was handled by Vivianne. Can you imagine someone asking you for a favour and when you counter with a request for monetary consideration because you realized you are short of time and have other projects that will build your personal projects or give you money, they respond with a terrible argument about why you are spoilt and why you owe it to them to do their thing for free?

Vivianne
Songbird, Vivianne

That is what happened. And now, Vivianne has put out a statement that is meant to make her seem like the bigger person by forgiving her enemies -you know, the same ones she created in her own coconut because we haven’t seen proof that Azziad even thinks of her let alone thinks of her as an enemy.

Is Vivianne serious about Kenya’s entertainment scene being demonic?

Verified

I have finally made peace with the fact that there are people who will never be my friends.
I wish them greatness in all their endeavors. Because that is God’s will. What’s on your Sunday list?

And wouldn’t you know it, she was also held accountable by netizens who saw her statement and instantly understood why it didn’t sit well with them. It was essentially your high school bully saying they forgive you for resisting their attempts to bully you. They are now enlightened and they want to go forward and enjoy their positivity.

Make it make sense.

Is Vivianne serious about Kenya’s entertainment scene being demonic?

Vivianne has come out to support Vanessa Mdee assertions that the entertainment scene is bedevilled and filled with evil energy.

Singer Vivianne confirms music industry is ‘demonic’ barely days after Vanessa Mdee’s claims

And the particular issue in question is said to be hypocrisy. According to Vivianne, Vanessa Mdee was right when she said members of the entertainment fraternity will act as if they care but will watch you fall into alcoholism and not care.

Vivianne was quoted as saying,

¨A fan tried to k!ss Vivianne a second time and I slapped him so hard¨ Sam West narrates

I love to make music but the pressure and the hypocrisy will drive you into depression or substance abuse that’s for sure.. In my own capacity as Vivian the lack of truth and lack of love that is characteristic in our entertainment system is demonic.

vivianne

But is this true? Are entertainers looking to sacrifice each other for the sake of success like in you favourite garbage Nollywood flick?

“I have worked hard to build my career!” Vivianne tells off those claiming her music is lacking

To be honest, we are merely being treated to excuses from Vivianne who is unwilling to take responsibility for her own issues and drama.
Were she to set up a strong support network, she wouldn’t need to run to alcohol to cope with pressure.

vivianne

Were Vivianne a lass with a spine, she wouldn’t be swayed by the pressure to put up appearances of success to the point of falling into debt.

There is no shame in having a humble beginning – Singer Vivian to Kenyan artistes

So in one way, she is right, Vivianne is saying the truth that entertainers are plagued by devils but they are haunted by their own demons of their own creation.

vivianne

That is why some artists thrive and never get swayed while some come into money and fame and success and can’t seem to keep their noses out of controversies and trouble. Vivianne might actually be speaking about her own struggles and she is merely projecting her issues to the entire entertainment playground.

And perhaps, if she goes to church and addresses her own demons, she will soon be singing a new song and who knows, Vivianne’s next song just might be a gospel hit.
