Why Yvonne Okwara has been conspicuously absent on Citizen TV

TV girl, Yvonne Okwara has been missing on our screens for the last 2 weeks and speculations were rife what the reason must have been. However, she has come out to shed light.

Yvonne who has been known for her popular Citizen TV Thursday night show News Gang, has been conspicuously missing for the last 2 weeks, leaving Kenyans worried.

She just resurfaced, explaining that she had to step back and look after her mind and body, reason being she just underwent a spinal surgery.

Long battle

Unknown to many, the TV sensation has been battling slip discs in her lower spine for a solid 2 years now, that have not only caused her excruciating pain but a persistent one.

Pain, that she had to bear with before our screens and while with her friends – a pain only known to her. More often than not, she put on her brave face but only she knew what she was really going through.

Putting on a brave face at work, with friends and how it changes your life, the mind and how exhausting and limiting it is. Always lurking in the background as you try to go about with your life. One day I’ll write about what it’s like living with chronic pain. Every day.

She tried to hold it together, to bear the pain, to wait just a little longer with hope that it would soon be gone, but even drugs proved weak, physiotherapy was not working at all and she decided it was time she had that spinal surgery done.
