Thugs who spent two nights robbing a bank in Nairobi CBD must have been influenced by Jason Statham’s movie ‘The Bank Job’

The heist at Habib Bank AG Zurich along Koinange Street reminds you of everything about the movie ‘The Bank Job’. The thieves who robbed Habib Bank AG Zurich must have used the same script as the movie.

In the movie ‘The Bank Job’, Jason Statham and his gang spend days robbing a bank. They tunnelled into the bank on weekend when the bank was close, robbed the safe deposit boxes and disappear.

The robbery is only discovered on Monday when the bank opens. And that movie is based on  real life robbery of 1971 Baker Street branch of Lloyds Bank in central London.

Kenyan version

Smart thieves following ‘The Bank Job’ script made their way into Habib Bank AG Zurich along Koinange Street and spent two nights robbing the bank right under the noses of security guards.

Just like Jason Statham and his gang, the Kenyan thieves spend the weekend robbing Habib Bank AG Zurich. The robbery was only discovered on Monday morning when the bank workers reported for duty.

The thieves had time to feast during the robbery, left-overs of githeri, beef, chicken, rice and chips which were in disposable plates were found on the counters and on the floor.

The bank has not immediately established how much money they stole. The gang failed to break into one of the vaults in a strongroom which had 41 million in cash.

According to the police and bank managers, the gang entered the bank through the rear door, went through the kitchen, banking hall, and up to the second floor of the building, where they disabled the alarm system and CCTV surveillance cameras before embarking on their mission.
