We need Bobby Mapesa back on the music scene

Earlier today, I was listening to Mtoto Mzuri Remix by Nonini and Bobby Mapesa and the latter’s verse in that track reignited some good memories.

I don’t remember how old I was but I’m sure I was in my early teens when I first listened to a jam by The Bugz, which was made up of Bobby Mapesa and VBO, all I remember is that it was really dope.

If you were a fan of the duo then I am sure you remember Kamoja Tu – it’s one of their earliest songs and it propelled them to greater heights.

Although VBO was also talented, I felt Bobby Mapesa’s vibe more. I don’t know how to describe it, all I know is that I could connect with his style.

Other than the fact that he had an impeccable flow, I also liked how he laid down verses in tracks. Bobby Mapesa also had some cheeky lyrics and a mkora voice. As in, you would just know that he is cheeky by listening to him.

Bobby Mapesa

All I’m saying is that I was a fan and I remember writing down the lyrics for songs like; Wezere, Naskia Utam, Stima Zimekam etc. so that I could sing along to them when the beat came on. Gold old days.

I don’t know what happened to Bobby Mapesa though. The last time I heard about him was when he teamed up with Calvo Mistari to form a group known as BC.

Although they released some songs, little has been heard about Bobby Mapesa since that and its about he came back from where he has been hiding because his fans need new music from him.

To be honest, I don’t even know where I’m going with this article. I’m just hoping that he’ll come across it, read it and do the needful. Enough said.

Meanwhile, please listen to Mtoto Mzuri Remix below and tell us what you think.
